I know this isn't a direct answer to your question. But I have a little Ryobi AM/FM/BT radio for out in the shop. I plan to use it in the Slate. It picks up pretty well for the most part, and the small 1.5ah battery lasts a very long time in it.
I'm going with the Blank Slate initially. But might get the SUV kit down the line. Probably well after it has been out and how well everything seems to hold up.
I'm still excited about it; but am pretty anxious to see actual numbers. Like some have already said, the new Leaf is going to be a real competitor for me. But, still going to wait and see how this one is going a year from now.
I think it will be fine! I drove a buddies small car back home for him, driving about 4 hours on interstates and did not have any issues. It WAS a small adjustment, but after merging once and passing another vehicle once, I wasn't really thinking about it anymore.
Only a couple of my friends are "car guys", and none of them had even heard of Slate before I brought it up. I think it'll gain more momentum as they near production, or at least I hope so.
After seeing Slate, I just want a small EV. If Slate does not make it to production, I'll likely just look into another EV at some point. Maybe a Leaf or Maverick.
I like the quick math here, but yeah I think most of the reservations will be dropped when it comes time to make the final decision. My reservation was on 5/17. Pretty excited for it, but I still expect a good long wait.
