  1. What would you tow?!

Just now I actually went to ChatGPT to see how Slate would work with an EZ Loader single axel boat trailer for a 14 to 17 foot boat. The trailer weighs about 350 lbs. Tongue weight would probably be say 100 lbs. My 17 ft. wooden boat is about 500 lbs. with everything in it. That’s getting close...
  2. What would you tow?!

I would be towing a 19 ft. Boat trailer with about a 450lb. boat including gear. A popular light trailer is the Scamp 13. I also rent 5 x 8 utility trailers on occasion for yard cleanup. If a Slate couldn’t handle that—Yikes!
  3. AM/FM Radio is a safety issue

Expensive, and doesn’t (really) fit the bill. I mean You can get these with short wave and UHF too; but not comparable to an in dash set up, of which this thread is about. I actually haul around an older UHF handheld, and take it in the drink on occasion :) (not in car). Thankful for...
  4. Slate starting price isn't set yet says CEO (per Insideevs interview)

Go or no? It’s still very questionable, especially with the slow up-ramp of accessory availability. One gets the feeling the addition of a trailer hitch has become an engineering albatross. The estimated cost has already jumped from $20 to 25,000, and who will argue it won’t hit $30,000 plus...
  5. Composite Plastic Body Panel Care (Cleaning, Protecting, Waxing, Coating)

I’ll probably marine paint mine—far more durability than a wrap for about $25-30 and a days work. Any opinion Slate will provide guidance? Maybe not; but the manufacturer will.
  6. AM/FM Radio is a safety issue

The problem there is two fold. First just any AM/FM tuner will not work unless it is compatible with the Slate electrical fields. Second it needs to be wired to the vehicle battery system so it won’t go dead. I don’t agree that radio is prone to obsolescence. Broadcasting stations will still be...
  7. AM/FM Radio is a safety issue

First of all it would have to work, one of the issues I brought up in the OP. The AM has to be configured for the vehicle. Sure a lot of people never drive in the country and would not need it. But others do and it saves lives. BTW other vital information besides the weather is broadcasted. So...
  8. AM/FM Radio is a safety issue

Hello I’m new on the forum and this is my first post. A Slate could be in my future if it is ever equipped with a sturdy trailer hitch and an AM/FM radio. It doesn’t seem like Slate is planning to install AM/FM radios as standard equipment even though they are standard SAFETY equipment. It’s...
