Noise requirement?

EV cooling fans and AC running are surprisingly noisy.

A friend of mine noticed this before I did, and sure enough he's right.

They make more than enough noise to keep one from sneaking up on you as a pedestrian (barring pedestrian earbuds, of course).

But it's not always hot weather. I've noticed cars driving in parking lots that are either just wheel on pavement noise(near dead silent) or the still quiet whir that is added, and they are far quieter than an idling or near idling gas engine, so I know they are EVs or hybrids immediately.
