I know customization is one of the key differentiators of Slate and one of the things that attracted me to it. I’m also excited to go to Slate meetups and seeing the diversity is designs.

However, for me personally, there are so many combinations I like, I don’t know what to start with. And once the custom designs are available, I’m done.

At this point I might end up with an unwrapped one because of decision paralysis.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yes! Also, lots of concern about whether my design will look all that good while at the same time not wanting to use any of their canned designs because someone else thought of them. And then there's juggling features I want while also trying to stay in a budget!

I too am thinking, "maybe just go with the base truck and then pick up bits after driving around for a bit." But then the base is so cheap that I then find myself thinking, I want to add something!

Yup! In the same boat. It’s nice to know that we can add stuff later down the line as I’m sure we’re all used to the current market of “build it and that’s what you get”. I’m certainly still in that model mindset of worrying about making it exactly how I want it the first time off the line.

I’m struggling with that right now on the lift & beefier tires even though I realistically don’t do a lot of off-road as much as I fantasize about it. 😂

I was shocked to read on Autoline Daily today that financial analysts who attended the release event predicted an annual sales price, all in, of $33,000+. I think those analysts bought Slate's statement that 60% of sales would include one of the SUV kits. And a very optimistic view on how much people will spend on accessorites.

I was floored. If Slate achieves those averages, I'll be doing a whole lot of head scratching.

I was slipping toward a potential dalliance with decision paralysis, but I escaped it by looking at things in a distinctly Slate-y way.

  1. First, I added everything that remotely struck my fancy. That bumped the price up quite a nice chunk.
  2. Next, I hit the little down arrow that just seems wrong. I mean, come on, it's on the bottom and is a down arrow, so by rights it should dismiss the design summary footer not open a full-height sidebar! Where were the UX/UI people?!? 😁
  3. And then, I hit "Save for later" on everything that I could feel conflicted about. Those animated LED lights really are cool, but are they worth it? SAVE!
  4. Finally, I went back to the wraps and tried on... um... pretty much all of them... No help there, but I did manage to choose one in the end, hehe.
I now have my personal version of as blank a Slate as I might want. Indecision solved!

Of course, that brings up a new problem: How do I decide which of the saved items I'm going to want to order first once I'm driving my new Slate? 🤣
