Dash cam power

I would like to see a power port above the rear view mirror for dash cam power. Some of the Grab vehicles I rode in when I was in Kuala Lumpur had them. I thought that was a fine idea.

As a DIYer vehicle, if Slate could at least run conduit, that might be nice. From the dash toward the doors, a good path back behind the seats and one up to the ceiling (& near rear view mirror)?

I learned about the value of conduit about five years after building my house. Cat5 ethernet to each room, but now that the drywall is up, Cat 5e / 6 /7 might be nice here or there. And plastic tubing is cheap!

Conduit, molded channel, or just space within the removable interior and exterior panels to DIY wiring, cables. No pre-wiring needed.

Modern cars do not leave room inside the panels or make them removable to be able to add wiring in for any accessories. Slate could really differentiate themselves here.

Slate core mission is to economically produce a vehicle that does not have anything other than what is required to make it go and pass regulatory compliance safely.

Seeing lots of requests to pre-wire this and that misses Slate’s core mission.

Yes, I get your point. Everybody wants to request a feature on a product that's supposed to be intentionally lacking features to save the customer money...
However...
The doors are already wired for optional power window motors to be mounted and plugged in.
Also, the dash is wired to accept optional speakers to be mounted and plugged in.
Also, the dash is most likely wired to plug in an aftermarket stereo (confirmed double-DIN compatible).
Also, the dash is wired for optional tablets to be mounted and plugged in.
Also, the dash has USB ports ready for whatever the user wants to plug into them.
Also, the dash has a 12V port ready for...
Also, the frunk has another 12V port ready for...
Also, the truck reportedly has a V2L connection somewhere, probably at the tail end of the bed, for powering AC appliances, tools, charging another EV, etc...

It appears that the top center of the Slate Truck's front windshield has equipment mounted there, most likely the collision avoidance radar and/or pedestrian recognition and/or I don't know what else, like countless modern cars and trucks on the road, so there will already be wiring routed there. To include an extra line for a USB-C port to power a dashcam just makes sense and wouldn't cost much. If Slate Auto hasn't thought of it yet (I'm sure they have), I agree with the OP that it should be added. I use dashcams. Everyone should. They pay for themselves if you're involved in an accident. Dashcams are exploding in popularity. Every new car should be wired for easy dashcam install. Costs next to nothing. That's true added value.
