I don't expect Slate to make a hybrid version as that would make them subject to CAFE standards. A lot of people seem to want it in a gas/hybrid version, so I could see some third party mod becoming popular considering how inexpensive the Slate is.
Im going to point out that Flat-towing support can help others who never tow it behind an RV. Since Slate is rear-wheel drive, Towing it requires lifting that axle. If the motor can be disengaged then tow trucks can lift the steering axle instead. Same with car dollies.

I found the same problem. I did find some in a city an hour away, mostly chain tire shops of which there is one in my town. I plan to use local for the simple stuff, just not sure about battery and HV type repair.
