If you took that tiny solar panel off your calculator and put it on a personal computer, it would not run that personal computer. Not even close.
There's the GoSun contraption. It's $5K and you bury your car with it everyday and it's copious panels only capture about 10-12 miles worth of power...
Not a lot of details here, but Sandy Munro mainly says that he's impressed by how easy it is to DIY disassemble/reassemble a Slate Truck and why he thinks Jeff Bezos invested in Slate Auto and not the others.
metal auto body panels require enormously expensive and just plain enormous equipment (3 stories tall) to stamp them out, so with this truck's makers fully intending to NOT do that in their own future factory, where'd they get these metal panels stamped?
It probably isn't metal. There are some...
I could be completely wrong about this, but I believe SA has said that if the user wants to have a infotainment-like screen in the vehicle that displays the vehicle's data, it needs to run the Slate app, which means a tablet computer is required, Android or iOS.
A monitor is not a computer...
I've been driving a Jeep Wrangler for 27 yrs. I live in the Southwest where it is sunny, warm, generally mild weather most of the year. I LOVE driving around topless and doorless. "Naked."
Driving a naked Jeep is like a rollercoaster ride without the terror. In the summer, the heavy airflow is...
Yeah, I turned my back on oranges many years ago. I wuz like: all apples, all the time...
Until I discovered the grape and now I barely even remember what an apple tastes like.
I disagree. All the big carmakers make huge profits selling cars loaded with feature packages. Customer has little choice. I LOVE adding and modding and personalizing and constantly refreshing my ride. That's a big part of why I love this Slate concept. Virtually no features whatsoever for me to...
I'm from Las Vegas originally, where it can get up to 130F in some spots. Moved to San Diego 22 yrs ago and I can't believe how people don't know what they have. Most of the year, it's great weather and almost everyone's got their windows up and AC cranked when it's 72. Me, I'm running around in...
But it already is, If I'm understanding what you're saying/asking. The huge, main high-voltage battery pack that powers the vehicle's drivetrain also recharges the 12V aux battery, which is essentially a common car battery that powers lights, stereo, accessories, same as an ICE vehicle.
SA has...
The Slate is all EV, so incredibly easy maintenance and NO TECH beyond the EV powertrain and standard safety features like radar, etc.
The Ford Maverick is ICE or Hybrid only, no all EV option, and is packed with features like screens and lots of tech that has proven unreliable and very high...
This thread is stuffed with assumptions that the aux switch bank that SA is offering is wireless like what Tesla has done. Nor has anyone on this thread state that SA has confirmed they are wireless. SA's website just says they're for controlling exterior accessories like lighting. The round...
Huh? Wireless? I didn't know the aux switch bank was wireless. Huh? I don't believe that it is. Where are you getting this from?
...
I just checked SA's website and their meager details on the aux switch bank mention nothing about them being wireless.
If your car door is firmly closed and locked, then the exposed hinge doesn't compromise anything. Nobody would be able to easily steal ur doors. The perimeter of the door, pressed firmly into the door jamb and locked, couldn't be pulled off just by toying with the exposed hinge. Because the door...
Auxiliary switches are for those who add lots of aftermarket electrical stuff, usually on the exterior of the vehicle, like fog lights (me), light bars, RGB accent lighting, 550 decibal train horn (which I'm seriously considering), winch, etc. Mostly lighting.
Adding all those aftermarket...
