All is good.
Really, I wish for Slate Auto to release more information about their product to put an end to all the confusion. People like me who like a cool truck are low-key arguing over roofs and Amazon's intentions and how many USB ports is too many.
Peace!
LOL I didn't say anything about paying a subscription to DRIVE the car.
I was saying that if Slate did like another commenter said about Jeep and Hyundai requiring absurd fees just to use their app, then I would reconsider doing business with Slate. Somebody please just charge ONCE for a...
I share the concerns. I want an affordable, efficient, clean truck devoid of excess features I'll never use. I'm obsessed with the Slate because it is the opposite of modern cars and Big Auto in general. but if it turns out that Slate would be tracking and extorting me via subscription fees to...
I merely pointed out that it's funny to install a sunroof on a sunroof. Pffft!
Meanwhile, you seem to be arguing about the perceived inconveniences involved with removing parts off a vehicle. I drive a Jeep, like millions of other people. We remove tops, windows, doors all the time in clear...
If I pay for the automobile and I own the automobile and I possess the title and the keys to the automobile I shouldn't have to pay a subscription fee to the maker of the automobile to get PERMISSION to use MY automobile. That's EXTORTION.
That's like if a mobster collects a fee from you for...
I respectfully disagree. In both videos, they clearly say the ROOF easily pops out, not the shell. The shell walls (the side walls with the windows) are BOLTED ONTO THE ROLL BAR, WHICH IS BOLTED TO THE BED FRAME. The roof panel, which is what I'm talking about, has 4 large L-shaped latches, one...
Yes, I get your point. Everybody wants to request a feature on a product that's supposed to be intentionally lacking features to save the customer money...
However...
The doors are already wired for optional power window motors to be mounted and plugged in.
Also, the dash is wired to accept...
Slate Auto's website contains very, very little detailed information about ANYTHING about this truck. The website seems to be just a pleasant tease to get people interested and excited, while not informing. Of course, it's still very early and maybe they don't want to promote a feature they may...
There is so much confusion over whether or not the Slate Truck has a screen. The fact that the customer can add their own phone or tablet to the dash seems to be making some people assume that the stock truck, therefore, has NO screen. Also, journalists like to say "this RADICAL DISRUPTOR EV has...
The removeable rear roof is shown here in this here video @ 15:15
I get the need for the roof panel providing rigidity, but if they can do away with the roof over the rear passengers, why not the front cab roof which has 1/3 the square footage? I am not an automobile engineer.
My favorite thing about my Jeep is the ability to drive 9 months of the year topless and doorless, so I'm a little disappointed that the Slate isn't (yet) showing an option for cab roof panel removal. They built that ability into the SUV shell option, but it just isn't the same.
So many...
The mirrors look like they're in an a roomy enclosure, and I saw in a video a journalist asked a Slate rep if power windows were an option and the rep said to "stay tuned."
I share the impulse to want to add on things I don't currently have. Only one car I"ve ever owned had power windows and it would be one of the few addons I would consider for the Slate. LOL. Everyone in the media is going crazy over the hand crank windows on this truck (!) and I want to install...

These are a thing, apparently. $35. I'm sure the quality is superb.
When the shifter is placed in R Reverse, the 4" screen behind the steering wheel automatically displays the backup camera's POV and when the shifter returns to D Driving mode, the screen would revert back to speedometer. Simple and automatic. I heard that using a smartphone in the cradle is...
I saw a video that showed USB ports in the compartment directly above the climate control knobs. Also, I think I saw another 12V port in the frunk, which would be a perfect spot for a portable cooler when shopping or camping. And if they're smart, there would be some kind of port presence at the...
