  1. Sound bar - factory mounting location under dashboard

I think the removable Bluetooth speaker is a theft magnet. if we do get a slate I’m planning on a double dstereo hardwired to real speakers and it will support wireless Carplay + have a real volume knob! Theft proof, simple, low cost, and I can keep my phone in my pocket if I want. im fine...
  2. Sound bar - factory mounting location under dashboard

Negligible impact. We’re talking watts, not kWs. Nothing to worry about.
  3. Why Doug DeMuro Thinks the Slate Truck Will Fail

Fwiw we just purchased a 25 maverick hybrid AWD. It tows 4000 lbs, has 4 doors, and gets 40+ mpg in the city and mid 30s on the highway. I have a reservation for a slate. I don’t need 2 pickups, but what I want is a small around town EV with room for me and my wife and a way to haul everything...
  4. Why Doug DeMuro Thinks the Slate Truck Will Fail

The chicken tax killed the small trucks, where the big trucks are profit making machines for the big 3ā˜ŗļø
  5. 5-Seat SUV conversion kit? Or sticking to pickup only?

The fastback top was initially shown with fixed glass. You can’t take the rear glass off the cab and use it without some additional work as it needs to have a longer vertical component if installed at an angle and you want to maintain the body lines. I bet the fastback will eventually come...
  6. 5-Seat SUV conversion kit? Or sticking to pickup only?

Want just the top. We would move the back glass and keep the partition if it adds rigidity, but if not, we’d pull the partition out and open up the rear seat cavity as a place to put groceries, etc. behind the seats. I suspect you either keep the partition or get the roll bar.
  7. Slate's open dash panels are ideal for Amateur Radio / GMRS!

The plastic body panels, will make antenna mounting interesting
  8. Heat Pump vs Resistive Heater

The miles seem low based on the vehicle size ( weight) and battery pack. Hopefully, unlike Tesla, they are under promising and will over deliver… pulling a ā€œScottyā€
  9. One-Pedal Driving confirmed for Slate truck

We had a Bolt EUV and I’ve driven a Kona EV. Chevy bolts have fantastic one pedal mode. Easy to modulate and full auto brake when stopped. The GM engineers nailed it. The Kona, not so much.
  10. Heat Pump vs Resistive Heater

Wonder if the target 150 mile range included summer and winter. A seasonal average and not just best case.
  11. One-Pedal Driving confirmed for Slate truck

Just 1 day…. This was the Slate agent's answer: Thank you for your interest in Slate! The Slate will have both one pedal driving as well as regenerative braking! Additionally, more information regarding specific specs will be available closer to time of production! Cheers, Kathryn Graessle...
  12. Flat towing (with regen)

2 wheel tow dolly? Park the rear wheels on it? https://towbetterdolly.com/ez-haul-car-tow-dolly/?sku=20-5000a&srsltid=AfmBOoqya8o_LhI-B3-zYkmqEX7GpF4dP25TGSaIgbftMdMW9rVcKFIblAY&gQT=1
  13. RWD regenerative braking

Got a confirmation from Slate that it will support one-pedal driving (and of course will have regen braking)
  14. One-Pedal Driving confirmed for Slate truck

Got a confirmation from Slate that it will support one-pedal driving (and of course will have regen braking). Update - this was the Slate agent's reply:
  15. RWD regenerative braking

Had a BOLT EUV with regen and, to GM's credit, an excellent one-pedal mode. FWD single motor. BOLTs are excellent EVs, but they don't charge very fast on level-3 chargers.
  16. Need FM Radio

Hardwiring a pair of passive dash speakers is as easy as powering 2 Bluetooth speakers. You are either running a power wire or a speaker wire. Just a pair of speaker grills as an option would be my request. DIY your own aftermarket speakers.
  17. Range Extender

I disagree. The ev range is probably more than enough for most people’s local daily needs. The ice range extender allows a single vehicle to be practical as a commuter AND a long distance cruiser. I wish my mav was an erev. The slate + mav = an erev scout. Scout cost about the same but now will...
  18. Range Extender

Just adding a portable generator will probably NOT work, or at best, won't work very well at all. I doubt the vehicle will even let you charge it while driving. In addition, you'll probably want at least 11KW to covert to 220ac, and then the car's internal charger will convert it back to DC to...
  19. Has anyone deciphered reservation numbers yet?

Not really.the first reservations are first in line but delivery logistics are also in play, so it also depends on your location too. When I asked I wasn’t given my place in line but they said since I made my reservation early Friday morning I was going to be able to get it sooner than later.
  20. Phone charging - wired or wireless?

Not a fan of the hardwire. My iPhone case may skew the socket location.
