5-Seat SUV conversion kit? Or sticking to pickup only?

Will you be running your Slate as an SUV, pickup, or both?

Curious how many here are planning to get the 5-seat SUV flat-pack conversion kit, or will you only be using your Slate in pickup form? Barring a high price tag, I'm planning to get it the SUV kit and run that most of the time since I've got a kid.

Fact that we can even ask this question is pretty damn cool!

I agree. I think this conversion is something lots of small families have been looking for.

Will go with a blank slate pickup only as much as possible since 90% of my driving is local. Usually just me and sometimes my dog. Wish a bench seat was available.

It will be interesting if it is reasonably easy to convert back and forth, with similar effort to taking the top off a jeep or bronco. I also like the idea of having the SUV shell but no seat, so you have a nice enclosed but accessible bed. Perfect for my dogs.

I put in a reservation. If I follow through it will be for the pickup even though I have a res for the Scout Terra with the range extender. Different use case and vehicle class, I know.

In this TFL video they turned a stock gray pickup into a blue wrapped SUV in 1 hour. So that includes the SUV top / cap install, seats install and the wrap. They had 10 guys working on it, but still this probably signals that converting from pickup to SUV and back isn't that hard a process.

My "want" is not an option...................

SUV cap but no rear seats. We live in a city and plan to use this as a run around/grocery store/dogs to the dog park kinda thing. No rear seats but covered will make the dog hauling much easier.

We will have another vehicle for nicer traveling and guests/visitors...that sort of thing

Yeah seems like that should be an option. Presumably you could order an SUV kit and not install the rear bench seat. But why pay for a seat that you don't want?

SUV box including seats. Custom wrap. This is going to be a commuter rig. On second thought maybe no SUV seats…dog bed instead.

Same. If slate doesn’t offer a topper only someone else probably will, and slate will miss out. I would even be happy with a nice bed cover like the leer quad fold cover they have for the maverick.

For those who want just a SUV topper, would you leave the back of the pick up cab in place and only relocate the window to the back of the SUV topper?

I could see having a mini cargo van like vehicle with the bed box fully intact as being highly useful.

Want just the top. We would move the back glass and keep the partition if it adds rigidity, but if not, we’d pull the partition out and open up the rear seat cavity as a place to put groceries, etc. behind the seats.

I suspect you either keep the partition or get the roll bar.
