$30k will be the base trim the dealers don't order much of, and don't want to sell you. If it's the length of a maverick with the cab of a mid-size, it's got to either have a short hood and tiny frunk, or a real short bed, or both.
Slate has a maverick outline to compare with the slate on the...
That's normally automatic, every newer car I've been in has a weight sensor, and pass. airbag on/off lights. It may be a legal requirement at this point.
If it's really as cheap as $500 including install, yeah, maybe just have them do it. Thinking one possibility I might do would just be a white upper wrap
If we are just talking the factory being the location you pick it up, I don't see why not, but it could just as easily be down the street from the factory, somewhere they rent a lot. Any of their pickup points are going to have to have a bit of space where you can at least sign the paperwork...
AWD only became common recently, I haven't driven a vehicle with it, I doubt I'll miss it. Rarely snows here. Maybe for some areas where AWD is basically standard, like when we've visited family in Missoula, basically all the rentals were AWD subarus, and that was a big part of what you saw on...
I think regular parking lot dings won't be a problem, you get some paint transfer from the other vehicle that rubs off, and shopping carts do even less. Moving vehicle damage could gouge the panels though, which is where the scars to show off would come from.
There was some video of one driving in front of some monster trucks posted on facebook yesterday. I think the ones they have been showing have all been "driveable" but some might not be something you'd want to trust on a highway. They might be trailering them to the locations, but they are at...
From what I saw there was a glimpse of a front end, no grill, smooth front, and that's the only detai shown. Apparently they are saying it will have the passenger space of a mid-sized truck, with the footprint of a maverick, and a frunk and bed.
That doesn't leave a lot of footage for the bed...
I think $500, or maybe it was $400 was the number mentioned by slate as a starting point for a wrap. No mention of full or partial.
Noticing that that site says installation included
From looking at the photos of the truck configured as an SUV, the roll bar goes right there, and the larger panel farther forward conceals the footwell for the back seat. But things like fit and finish are the biggest things I'd expect to not be "done" on these prototypes they have on tour.
This got me looking at how the EPA range is determined, they test on a dyno, and run a city cycle, and a highway cycle, they typically multiply by 0.7 to account for AC use and aggressive driving, and they weight the city at 55% and highway 45% and give 1 combined range number. Looking beyond...
Early this year, after I heard second hand that my uncle was looking at Rivian, I started looking at EV trucks, and I was disappointed seeing the prices. Nearly everything is 70k+. So I think I agree that unless there is some major flaw or something, I wouldn't be having buyer's remorse. Gas...
Ventilation for brakes is a thing, but if it's mostly using regenerative braking, I don't think that will be an issue. Larger more rugged looking tires will mean more rolling friction and less range. Actually the smooth steel wheels may also be to minimize wind resistance too.
We just aren't going to find out anything more on range and battery pricing for at least a few months, the numbers we have seen are estimated EPA estimates coming from a computer model. Once they build the actual first final version trucks on the assembly line, they will be tested and real EPA...
Every one of those videos and articles has been created by people who have exactly the same info slate has given us, which is very little. Slate doesn't even know what the end price is going to be, tariffs may go up or go away by that point, or we may be in a full blown recession by then. So it...
Well, in the days of RWD being the norm, with nothing like traction control etc, people didn't try driving at 70+mph in the snow.
Last time I visited Missoula Montana most vehicles on the road were AWD or FWD. All the rental car companies had were AWD.
