Was able to finally see a Slate up close. It’s the same truck that they are touring everywhere. They aren’t letting you sit in them now because the current version is a prototype and is more delicate than production version would be. They plan on touring next year with some beta production versions that we can sit in and drive. The crew working on site is great all friendly and knowledgeable. They will “check you in” if you have a reservation.

I very much enjoyed seeing it in person finally! I could get a better sense of the scale. Based on what o saw today I’m still very excited and looking forward to seeing and driving a production version next year.

I also went to see the Slate. I was impressed and more importantly the wife was.

We also saw the Telo truck cruising the parking lot, one ugly “truck” Wife said “hell no” when asked if she would drive the Telo. 🤣

I had the opposite experience with my wife at the Motoring Cafe event. Haha. She was flabbergast that there was no “CarPlay” nor power windows, and that it was “boring grey”. But she said that she knew “I liked minimal things”.

My wife can do away with most of that stuff except CarPlay, but the phone is essentially that. You can also add a wireless CarPlay monitor or add a stereo later to add CarPlay.

My wife hates all the driving tech both cars we own have, and the only thing she uses is the Parking Hold. I believe it’s called, and that took her a while to use.

We also both don’t like dents or dings so we always park in safest place we can find so having no paint and basically dent-less body panels is a plus.

Told her we can add CarPlay via mounted screen, or even a DIN stereo add-on. She doesn’t like the phone interface for nav and entertainment.
When I told her there were no speakers either and that would need to be added, I knew it was a different conversation. Haha. Good thing is this would be my primary and her Subaru as the household primary.

I will add the speakers at least. 99% of my listening is podcasts anyway.

Yes and no.

Specifically, yes (for dents) and no (for dings) because the Truck is designed with an ethos of Embracing Visible Wear and Tear..
I think regular parking lot dings won't be a problem, you get some paint transfer from the other vehicle that rubs off, and shopping carts do even less. Moving vehicle damage could gouge the panels though, which is where the scars to show off would come from.

My wife loves her mercedes mbux infotainment. it requires her fingerprint or a pin to sign in and has a bunch of stuff that is useless for the core purpose of driving.

the one thing it should have (it has the cameras) but doesnt is 360 dashcams.
