Okay, I did; I don't read every post from every forum member, but the premise is still the same. (a) if you must use the public charging system to refuel your EV, it pretty much takes 10X time to refuel and costs the same petrol, (b) cvollers is still going ICEV with a possible Civic pick, and...
Neither is sitting at a public charger to regain 90 miles in 30 minutes at basically the same cost per mile as gasoline. It's embarrassing and degrading.
Cvollers said he can't charge at home but still wants a less-than-full-size, single cab pickup, which I read as him not wanting an EV...
Go look at the Nissan Frontier King Cab. 6-foot bed on a 210-inch body. 3.8L V6 with no turbo! 310 HP and 21 MPG. Hard not to consider one if you can't charge an EV at home. My 2 cents.
Based on the Munro video I'd say the control arms, wheel hub, steering rack, and tie rods all look as standard independent front suspension fare that could hold the weight of an automobile engine. But I agree with you, the current suspension design is tuned for the GVWR of the front axle...
Agree, not about the weight capacity entirely, but...
I've scanned as many pics of the frontend section of the chassis and I see no pre-existing mounting points for a front traction motor, but I do see a frame member being in the way of an axle shaft reaching the front wheel hub. If an AWD...
If you choose the option to transfer the credit to the selling dealership, you get the entire tax credit applied to the vehicle purchase price as a price reduction regardless if you have a tax liability of $7,500 (or whatever amount the car qualifies for). You still however, must meet the AGI...
Your post reminded me of The Saturn Corporation. Completely non-conformist. A plastic car built on a spaceframe chassis, Styrofoam casted engine block and head, low-cost model changeovers, non-union labor force, built in the Southern US outside of the auto industry rust belt, no-negotiation...
Evidence Toyota never intended it for the US market. It's intended for lower GDP countries than the US. So the "internet" getting all bent out of shape really never was a thing.
They have not yet been successful nor yet failed; it's all just an academic exercise at this point. Yes, they have made a lot of progress to this point in just a few short years. But this is a huge endeavor for a group of humans to take on, let alone be successful. Asking "what's next" is so...
At the official launch my understanding was a Bronco pickup to compete with the Comanche was in the pipeline as a model. My plan was to drive the Bronco for the time it took Ford to release the Bronco Pickup. Very disappointed it did not come to fruition.
I'd not call it a pure EV skateboard either. It's really in my view a spaceframe w/ bolt-on plastic panels design similar to the Fiero. Maybe it should be called a "skateframe"(?). But the point is the Slate design is not a true body-on-frame, which allows for higher towing capacities.
From a...
It's a small, lightweight unibody design, is my guess. Brakes on the Munro video seemed pretty beefy, but that is a good guess to. Heck it might just be a range limiting factor.
Exactly, and I will add that a 25% tariff would add just $2,500 to the $10K MSRP. The reason the Toyota is not sold in the US is because, like the Suzuki Jimny, there is not enough sales volume for a small, low content, utilitarian vehicle in the US to make it worth the effort to Federalize it...
