The roll cage may be a perk to some, or the fact that it’s all the same materials/manufacturing. Plus that would allow for an open-air design, rather than seperate bed/cab. A pro to some, a con to others
To suggest I did not read the article, and then to say “nobody is telling you how much range you need” is a level of humor I can only chalk up to trolling.
The subtitle of the article, which I read when I *didnt* read the article is “You Need Way Less Range Than You Think”
The problem is there...
This is really simple math. I drive ~28,000 a year. My work is a 60mi round trip commute. For the most favorable use case, let's say I work 260 days a year. No vacations, Mr Boss man.
260*60=15600 mi commuting.
That leaves 105 days to make up for the 12400 (28000-15600) miles. That leaves me...
Just food for thought I’ve had. Does the SUV kit even make sense in the business model anymore? I know there are users who will get the topper and use it without seats- that makes sense.
But for the everyday consumer, average Joe buying the Slate. The SUV kit is getting more and more confusing...
Much like Slate, I will watch the development of this with optimism. Low-cost cars are good for all consumers, even if bad for Slate. Frankly, if Ford can put out a modest range EV that comes with a radio at $30k, I will hesitate to convert my Slate reservation. But both Slate and Ford's new EV...
You're giving a company, which has never sold anything more than an idea in the form of a $50 refundable reservation, far too much credit. IF Ford was trying to "lower Slate sales", they would have waited much longer to release this info, closer to Slate sales release. Give consumers something...
I agree, the Ford truck likely won't be a carbon copy of the Slate (and it shouldn't be!) but for many consumers it will introduce a level of competition. That will drive prices down and increase value on both cars (hopefully).
Fair enough! I’ve lowered my expectations for announcements. One thing Tesla does well is announce something and deliver it nearly immediately. 18 months of wait time makes for anxious customers…. Only so much they can share.
I’m also in the camp of “maybe buying a slate” rather than...
I mean, I'd love em all, don't get me wrong. But the biggest elephant in the room is price, and price of accessories, and I don't expect any update on those until at least a few months post-tax credit, if not mid-next year. I don't have any big looming questions, so I was curious what you had!
Remote conditioning will require wireless connection, outside of a relatively limited range from your FOB.
If Slate is not integrating wireless into the car, it will have to be an add on. And I don’t see any way they would give wireless connectivity for free. They’d be eating that cost.
But...
