It's behind the rear glass. When converted to the squareback, the same glass panel is reused and moved to the tailgate. I'm not exactly sure about the fastback top, but assume it's the same.
I was looking at the way Scout is implementing their Harvester range extender, and it seems like a marketing shell game. The big headline advertisement reads "350 miles BEV, or up to 500 with the EREV." But in reality, they're HALVING the battery capacity to fit the engine and fuel tank, so the...
The Olympia one is somewhat close to me. I've put the date on my calendar and am looking forward to seeing additional details about what to expect if I can go.
Is there a reason these couldn't be painted after the fact by the consumer? If they can all be removed, I have a good HVLP gun that would do the job. Seems like it would be more durable than wrap, I just don’t know if paint on plastic is a bad idea.
It's absolutely an option to not have a screen at all. Everything you need to drive is on the speedometer screen behind the steering wheel. The only reason you would want a phone/tablet is for hands-free music or navigation, guidance to a nearby charge station if the battery is low, or the...
I wonder how much of the price is dictated by their emphasis on US manufacturing and suppliers. With the Maverick built in Mexico and everything coming over from Asia, that alone seems to put Slate at a disadvantage right out of the gate price wise.
The past few days, I've been daydreaming of the possibility of an e-ink tablet instead of a traditional screen. I really only need it to play music and podcasts. All my driving is local so I don’t need navigation. E-ink would be slick, low power, no glare, easy to see in the sun.
Picking up accessories at time of purchase so that they can be included in the financing seems like a straightforward idea. I personally hope there's no significant discount for doing so over buying the same parts later though. That always leads people to overspend up front, stretch the budget...
I'm not sure exactly what the Slate app brings to the table outside of integration with the onboard computer to get remaining battery range estimates. If I'm using my own bluetooth speaker and navigation app, then I'll just connect my phone directly to the speaker like I would at home.
Plywood is an easy stand in for the largest thing I will conceivably need to transport, and having a cargo capacity that's slightly below does me zero good when I do.
The 4x8 size covers way more than just construction grade plywood. If you do any home maintenance at all you'll run into the...
I saw that the 2 suv roof options can be installed without the rear seat, effectively giving you a bed cover. Would be interested in seeing that configuration.
The photo here indicates that you're correct, it would need to be 48+ above the wheel well. If you look closely, the ply is a foot or so above the tailgate. It looks like there's slots molded into the sidewalls above the wheel well to span 2x6s across to make a little shelf too.
I'm excited about this little truck as a second vehicle for local errands and hauling stuff around. My current car is a CRV, and I've had the back seats folded down for 5 years straight now. I basically never have more than one passenger, and use it mostly as a truck, but without the ability to...
They've already mentioned that some of the customizable pieces will have open-sourced designs that could be 3D printed. I can absolutely see Etsy shops and the like popping up that will make CNC dash panels in black walnut or diamond plate grill and light sets. This kind of mod community support...
