Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the continental US restriction is a limited time thing until manufacturing ramps up. My family was stationed in Hawaii for a few years, and even with the Navy paying to have vehicles shipped both ways, I remember it being a pain.
ChatGPT tells me that 39 states...
You may be confusing "features" for "value." Value is going to be different for everyone. I will never need to haul a little league team 500 miles on dirt roads with a trailer. The Maverick may offer that as a feature, but I would value that capability at exactly zero dollars. The things I do...
I understand the value of a subscription when there is some sort of network connectivity that's required. Remote HVAC for instance from the app, the truck would need to have a constant cell tower/satellite connection to know when to turn it on when you're away from the truck. There's servers and...
We disagree on the placement of a piece of glass. Thats fine, and, really, is the essence of what makes the Slate exciting. We're in agreement that a tool-less conversion is a cool feature in any vehicle.
If something I said came off as heated, that was not intentional.
So, you’re at the beach. Decide you want the top open. Unlatch it and then... what? Put the whole roof panel in the back seat?
I get what you're saying about the potential tool-less removal. That's a cool option. But there's an argument to be made that both options - a fully removable roof...
I'm continually confused why the headlines, including that new Top Gear video, continue to be "Jeff Bezos' pickup." I don't get it, are people more inclined to pay attention with the Bezos name attached? His involvement is certainly not a plus in my book.
I have a pretty low opinion of Bezos...
haha, that's the exact opposite of these power window switches disguised as manual cranks:

My reading on both of those videos is that they're talking about reconfiguring the Slate to the open-air beach cruiser style.
This is something you do in the garage and have parts you leave at home. That's a big difference from a sunroof that you can open and close on the fly if it starts...
So you can leave your phone in your pocket, and not have to fumble around with plugging it in and taking it back out every time you get in or leave the truck.
Did you raise the question about subscription fees, or did they offer that bit unprompted?
I'd wonder how a subscription would even work, since we've heard previously that the truck itself doesn't have any connectivity to "phone home." I would assume it would need some sort of cell connection...
Looks like a car show at the Terrace Theater plaza in Long Beach? I see tents for Lucid, Polestar, and Dodge in the background. Any idea how long the Slate will be there? Hopefully we get a few new interviews/impression videos from some locals.
WA state currently has a sales tax exemption, but it expires at the end of July of this year and I haven't seen anything about extending it. So not a reduction in purchase price, but that would help on the final out-the-door price.
I hope they publish event details soon. I was looking forward to the Olympia one in two weeks, but need time to re-coordinate work schedules to get the time away if the date is moving.
This is great to see, a sunroof would be one of the few mods I would definitely go for. I drive with my CRV's sunroof wide open all the time - summer, winter, sometimes even when it's lightly raining. Make it one of your spoiler-style openings and it would be perfect.
Cool also to see an...
