^^ There it is, right there! ^^
That is Slate's target market. (It's as if @skidoofast ripped a page out of Slate's business plan.)
However, if any forum members seek a turn-key highly efficient EV with sleek modern styling, 4 doors, and seating for the whole family, plus luxury interior and...
Ha ha ha.
You and I had the same thoughts.
I was not going to get into the technical numbers, but since you have now put them out there. So, people should remember that the resistance forces the motor (and battery) are fighting against increase at the square of the velocity not twice the...
It's physics. The coefficient of drag on a truck is very high. If you want great efficiency from a truck (or any other vehicle), keep your speed BELOW 15 mph. (And avoid New England winter driving.)
I agree with @metroshot , your EV expectations are not Slate's target market.
Thank you @metroshot .
I was going to remind OP (and others) that the Slate vs Bolt comparison was flawed, but you did it better than me.
Instead, let me derail this thread with a genuine problem.
The farmers in California need to improve their oranges. Here in New England, I can simply rinse...
Add the SUV config option without the seats, then wrap the windows. Voila! You've got your van. Rinse and repeat a few more times, then your company's got a fleet.
I agree about the big trucks.
Like you, I also had a Mazda B series pickup (with manual tranny).
It was simple, crank windows, FM radio, and a lot of fun.
It rusted away in 10 years.
In my area, they all rusted into non-existence.
If the tax credits go away, I will "stay in" and pay the $27k.
I don't think Jeff Bezos cares about Blank Slate as an automobile. Not at all.
Bezos probably has no opinion about 4 doors or 2 doors, nor does he care about battery capacity, crank windows, stereo, AWD, nor any other feature. I expect him to ignore internet "influencers" with all their...
In my mind, I hope Slate Auto remains focused on their "keep it simple" design philosophy with your suggested licensing in the reverse direction. Namely, let Aptera license FROM Slate whatever they need to build the solar panels as an aftermarket sale to Slate owners.
I agree with you @GaRailroader. The Canoo IPO caused them to have "too many cooks in the kitchen" and the company lost its focus. Covid, plus alleged improper financial shenanigans frightened off any further investments and the spiral downward just accelerated from there.
As of right now, I believe relying on federal and state incentives on the day I receive my blank Slate will be like expecting the weather that day to be dry and sunny.
I'm hooked on Slate's price and owner installed options. As long as they stay true to those, I'm still in. And their reply to...
:CWL:
I know exactly what you mean.
Every time, I need to move my wife's Hyundai out of the driveway, my left foot stomps on the floor before I even hit the start button.
