Special Q&A for Reservation Holders w/ Slate Auto CEO

My reading of that accessory is that it has nothing to do with the truck at all. It's just a generic volume & play/pause remote control that's made to fit in the steering wheel. Something similar to this thing from JBL.

Special Q&A for Reservation Holders w/ Slate Auto CEO

I'm going to try and remedy that situation. My question to Chris was if she would give a shoutout to SlateForums.com. 😇

Special Q&A for Reservation Holders w/ Slate Auto CEO

Of course! I'm happy that 100,000+ people were just given the opportunity to connect and get up to (our 😆) speed on where things sit. I just don’t expect any ground-breaking announcements to be made here. Would be excited if theres some nuggets for us too.

Special Q&A for Reservation Holders w/ Slate Auto CEO

I hope we get lots of *new* insights and information, but the way these things usually go it's a bunch of people that are only passively engaged, asking questions that are already well-covered.

Bed Toolbox - Tricked Out Custom Concept

That's 100% a toolbox for people that don't use tools. How do you even close it without everything falling off the shelves?

Slate will train RepairPal shops for accessories installs, service, repairs

Not sure when this was added, but theres a page and FAQ on the Slate website now specifically for shops that are interested in becoming Slate Certified. https://www.slate.auto/en/certified Also interesting, at the bottom, they're asking for 3rd party accessory manufacturers to get in touch...

Articles and Videos of Interest That Don't Merit Their Own Threads

Came across this article that has absolutely nothing to do with Slate, and was surprised to see a casual Slate mention at the end as a company that might save us from these kinds of anti-consumer moves. A sign that awareness is breaking through? HYUNDAI PAYWALLS BRAKE PAD CHANGES...

The Hypothetical Vehicle I Would Chose Over The Slate

That Ironwood site is complete AI slop top to bottom. The hero image of the SUV literally says "IRONWOOO" on the grille. Appreciate the laugh!

Plywood 4x8 fit / loaded into Slate truck bed (video)

It's a 14 second video, I think we can give them a pass on the flagging step.

Delivery and Service Partner announcement coming soon / Warranty period

Not sure the Porky-pig style outfit is going to help out with that, but I guess it would be a start.

Delivery and Service Partner announcement coming soon / Warranty period

It was fun, thanks. I got a good laugh this morning when I saw the announcement email, thinking how I whiffed on my prediction.

Dang! I was so certain, lol! DM me your T-shirt preference and mailing address, and I'll get it on order.

Slate announces Tesla supercharger access + 4,000 service / repair shops RepairPal partnership!

This seems like a departure from their original plan of "2500 locations" with a national partner. I wonder if something fell through. I've been publicly betting on Walmart since the beginning due to the similarities in the announcement language. Literally betting! Looks like I owe @KJRaven a...

Slate SUV kit (rear window open) on display in Sacramento

Oh definitely. Slate's mentioned it a bunch that the rear window panel just slides back during the conversion from pickup to SUV. I just don't think we've seen it open before with the gas struts underneath. This was my first time seeing it, anyway. Slate even posted a video a while back of them...

Slate SUV kit (rear window open) on display in Sacramento

Since the squareback's rear glass is the same component, it stands to reason that the basic single cab truck configuration would also allow you to open the glass this way. I hope so anyway. I guess it depends on how the window is latched closed.

a small detail, but good to finally see.

    Wahingon DC Slate event... Info?

I wonder if these ones even have glass in the doors. It seemed like the early prototypes could only roll down part way. So either they've updated the window mechanisms, or they've just removed the glass entirely.

    Flip-Up Rear Window?

Slate posted a video a while back of the truck getting loaded up with picnic gear. It had the squareback cover. Tailgate down, glass... also down. It looked really awkward. I really hope that's going to get a rethink.

News: Slate exploring different battery supplier. SUV kit price to be $5000 range

Chris said the SUV kit would be in the $5000 range. That's not a number I had heard before from an official source.

Articles and Videos of Interest That Don't Merit Their Own Threads

This article on Autopian made me laugh. They fantasize about a new EV El Camino with a fold out 2nd row seat, and basically just end up reinventing the Slate. https://www.theautopian.com/a-reader-requested-new-el-camino-could-solve-the-ford-mavericks-biggest-problem/
