He spent most of the time in the article talking about vehicles we can’t even buy here, so why bother to compare? The new Scout is more comparable in the idea. It is larger, better equipped, and 3X the price though. They are spending more on their new factory buildings and won’t be available...
This site has more information and pictures. I'm trying to understand the de Dion. (I had not seen this site until today).

There are a number of pictures in the article that I haven't seen before. There are pictures of the rear suspension and motor, and pictures of the framework without body panels.
I think the top can be unbolted, but not as easily removed as a regular shell on a pickup. I think our pickup is only clamped on by 4 or 6 clamps. The fastback top would be removable.
It rains too often here to get the open version only. I had thought about getting only the top and no rear...
They are rolling out information probably as fast as they can. Last week the progress on the factory, which looks like it has a long way to go, but at least they show something is happening. I would like for them to show more structural pictures or drawings of the chassis, frame, batteries...
I think Lucid had talked about a changeable battery pack. Rather than waiting to charge, you would go to a Lucid Dealer, they would drop your old battery and put on a charged one. That never went beyond initial talks. Charging your current battery sounds much simpler.
That sounds like what happened locally. Our power company bought some Hydrogen powered trucks to use as service vehicles, and they opened one fueling station. Unfortunately Hydrogen fueling stations are rare, so you couldn't travel far away from a station. There are so many EV charging stations...
I'm just wondering if it would be easier and cheaper to just stop and recharge more often? I was worried about range, but the more I read about it, the more people seem to say to just plan your trip and use an app to tell you where stations are.
The Slate with the hatchback, rollbar and rear seats will more than likely be more than 28,500, probably closer to 30,000. The Rivian looks nice, except those headlights. 😁
Here is a better view of the Slate shown above at the Slate factory. In case you can’t read the emblem, it says “Indiana, The Hoosier State”. 😄 They could call it the Hoosier Slate.
