I just came across the latest greatest battery advancement; just like Donut, and just like Donut it's going to start life in a motorcycle.
Did Donut start a trend?

I've been following Quantum Scape for years now. They're very real, but also not truly solid state. The good news is that they've been slowly but deliberately marching towards scale manufacturing. The thing about Quantum Scape is that they don't make batteries. They make a production line for their ceramic separator and associated production process. They leave it to others to buy the production line and actually make the battery. At least that's the last time I checked up on them.

Donut Lab is getting interesting. They did a deliberately provocative April Fool's video, and slowed down the release schedule of their own test results. Everyone is wating for the VTT tests for gravimetric density, cold weather performance, and at least some kind of cycle test. I kind of get the impression Donut Labs is toying with the Internet. TBD if they are real or Memorex. Quantum Scape is absolutely real. Meanwhile, the Net is still split 50-50 between "Donut is a scam" and "Donut is a revolution".

I bought QS stock a long time ago. My purchase average was probably 60 dollars/share. Lost my ass. But I still hope they get to market even though I sold a long time ago.

Looks more and more like the shine is coming off the Donut story.

For the record, I'm sitting on the fence eating popcorn and watching the show. I'd love it if Donut Labs comes through. I won't be all that surprised if they have been mildly or more-than-mildly exxagerating. Either way, great fun to watch all the Web hysteria pro and con.
As someone once said "There's no such thing as bad publicity", and Oscar Wilde put it even better. "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about" ;)

I've been watching Lucid (LCID) stock drop for the last several years. They did something with their stock, a reverse split is what I think they called it where 10 previous shares became 1 share. For every $30 I spent on their stock is now worth $6.25. Some people invested in it from the start and lost a ton of value. I've been watching for Slate to sell stock, but doubt I will invest anything in it, besides buying the truck.
