Emergency failure alert. WE ALL KNOW THERE WILL BE A TIME WHEN IT JUST WON'T GO FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER HERE ARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS THAT ARE ALARMING FOR EXAMPLE

IF YOU LOSE THE DRIVE BATTERY VOLTAGE IT WON'T GO AND YOU CAN'T RELEASE THE BRAKES AND IT DOES NOT HAVE A NEUTRAL GEAR WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE TO PUSH AGAINST THE MOTOR WHICH IS SIGNIFICANTLY GEARED IN THE REAR END WHICH MEANS YOU CAN'T DO IT.

THE BOTTOM LINE SOLUTION IS IT HAS TO BE TOWED WITH THE BACK WHEELS UP SO THAT THE FRONT WHEELS ARE ON THE GROUND.
BUT THEY WON'T LET YOU DO THAT BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN LOCKED

FRANKLY I DON'T SEE HOW YOU'RE GONNA GET IT ON A TOW TRUCK WITHOUT RUINING THE TIRES THE REAR WHEELS WON'T RELEASE THE FRONT WHEELS WON'T RELEASE

EVEN IF YOU PUT FOUR DOLLIES ONE ON EACH OF THE WHEELS THAT'S REALLY the only possible way you can move the vehicle

you need to think this out very carefully because this is the reality of this vehicle

I suspect it's very nearly the same with other electric vehicles if you don't have a neutral gear you're gonna have a lot of problems.

There is R N D and P on the dash. I assume N is for neutral.

Emergency failure alert.
I thought your original thread you started was interesting in a humorous way. Too bad it got shut down. I suspect that administrative action took place because it came across as spam? Only the forum admin can answer but I don't recall any announcement explaining their rationale.

But why post in all capital letters? It's like you're yelling to get your point across. Just curious to know why you decided to post that way.

Also, the Slate design is not unique. There's lots of other designs where towing involves dealing with wheels that cannot move. Transporters who do vehicle repossessions deal with this on a regular basis, right?

Electronic parking brakes are low voltage and typically on the rear wheels, not the front. My R1T gets towed on a flatbed, it's not really a big deal. My 2007 Ridgeline was also flat-bedded when the starter spontaneously failed at a gas station. That's just the "reality" of a lot of vehicles regardless of what fuel they take.

Also, you're not doing a very good job at generating FUD.

I've never had a car towed other than on a flatbed. When you said that it would ruin the tires, I was thinking, "from 20 feet of slow sliding? no way" because I was only thinking of flatbed towing. Having said that, the times I've had cars towed was due to a mechanical issue that wouldn't allow a rolling tow rig anyway.

Interesting to think about but not something I'm going to worry myself over.

Not sure how the front wheels get "locked" and won't rotate(?), but yes, sling-type tow trucks all carry wheel dollies to tow vehicles with. Or you can just request a flat-bed...

Well y'all need to get serious: I've built three electric vehicle cars all using modified gas cars and trainees when you put it in neutral it disconnects, because it's a gas car and that's the way it was built.

So I was curious to know, it says neutral on the Slate, what does it do, well frankly it doesn't do a damn thing!

The more I read in the more questions I get answered by Slate tells me this is a very serious problem and I am quite sure it's going to happen to several of you.

Which by the way, my next inquiry is how does the system warn you if you're absent minded or simply not paying attention that the drive battery is about to fail and at what voltage does it fail and what about the 12 V accessory battery at what voltage does it fail.

Failure analysis is critically important to a good design, we need to be able to recover simply, cheaply, and quickly; that's why we ask the questions.

Yea I'm sure they forgot that sometimes vehicles need to be towed, can't believe these experienced auto makers made that mistake.

You come off a little unhinged and the ALL CAPS SCREAMING doesn't help your case. What evidence do you have of any of your claims?
