100% gonna buy, with SUV kit and larger battery. Living in the rust belt (Michigan) my top concern is rust and corrosion. Obviously the body panels will be fine. I've spent my life fighting rusty bolts, rotting frames, etc. Will those body panel bolts sieze up after a couple winters?
Slate...
I was gonna say no since I'm in Michigan. But if there's a "Meat n Great".....I'm in ! Sounds like BBQ n Slate. You may have accidentally created this year's Slate tour theme.
I can't wait for my Slate. Been shouting Slate's praises from the mountain tops since i slapped my $50 on the table day one. Here's another angle. If demand outpaces production there's an opportunity for someone out there to flip their Slate for a tidy profit. Of course it's a budget vehicle so...
My turn to chime in. First, I am NOT an early adoptor of anything but the second I heard about Slate they had my reservation money. I've been interested in EVs but priced out of everything. I don't buy into the American desire to have the biggest, fastest, buzzers, luxuries, more, more more...
Small screen may have just been for prototype and development. As tech prices fall by the minute, I'm guessing the cost difference is nothing.
Bigger screen will be way better for the reverse camera view. Thanks Slate !
I wonder if the back glass in the SUV style will open like my 07 Jeep Liberty. Tailgate closes first and glass latches down to that. To open, the glass unlatches when you pull the tailgate handle.
Risk is there for sure. Slate is doing something the others haven't......build something simple for the masses. The other EVs are loaded with luxury and do-dads that go unused. They're aimed at people with deep pockets so they can charge a fortune to make a quick profit on investment...
If I find myself in Texas I'll go for sure. I saw it in Detroit a few times and can't wait to have one in my hands. I live near the headquarters (closer to the "secret" beta factory actually). And I've driven past the Warsaw factory.
Please post pics and thoughts from Fort Worth.
I would love to pick mine up and road trip it back to Michigan. However, I plan to order the SUV kit. How would that work? I doubt they'd let me install it in the parking lot.
So question to my road tripping friends here....how do you carry your accessories home ?
For that matter, I'm curious...
Manual mechanism is literally a gear and toothed arm to lift and lower window. Electric has motor, drive belts, buttons, wires, etc. More parts, more money. Worked on both in my days. Glad they're offering power windows as option. I'll keep the cranks.
As someone that works in the manufacturing industry (mostly automotive) there are so many factors out of Slates direct control. People outside have no idea what a huge mountain they're climbing. So cool that they've reduced the startup complexity by eliminating paint and stamping and component...
There are still a lot of people that have not heard about Slate yet. I believe there's so many more people that want what Slate is aiming for. Numbers and info reveals are a tricky thing. Balance of momentum, interest, anticipation, excitement, curiosity. Stay focused.
KISS - Keep It Simple...
Anyone else make cookies? I'm better in the garage than in the kitchen. It was fun tho. My brother 3D printed the molds for me with food grade filament. Haven't got sick yet. Practice for printing parts for my Slate soon.
