This guy doesn’t understand what some of us have been looking for. As a teenager I loved the Roadrunner. Basic, no frills, muscle car. I loved my old Geo Tracker, basic, crank windows, no AC even. Finally someone is listening. I’m ordering the Slate as is! No options! I’ll probably just paint the wheels white. Love the basic no nonsense approach. Sure I like my cooled seats and adaptive cruise control in our Lexus. But that’s for trips. The slate will be around town and to the beach. Perfect. And 150 miles is plenty. 👍

I've also seen many of these pessimistic takes on YT, and nearly all are the same POV. These pundits always pop off with arrogance and a desperation to be seen as seasoned experts. They are almost always looking at things from a very narrow and negative perspective: to say obvious things that are most likely true because of their observance of recent history. "The Slate will bomb because people want 4 doors and big screens and jewel-encrusted oil dipsticks." They don't seem to have a good grasp of the bigger picture: 1) MOST PEOPLE WHO DRIVE THOSE CARS AND TRUCKS CAN'T AFFORD THEM and are stressed out from all the excess and financial debt. 2) There are a LOT of people like me who hate everything about modern automobiles that can't be repaired or maintained by the owner and are loaded with unwanted features and are waiting for change. 3) EV startups nearly always fail. 4) Despite recent "non-smart leadership" interference, all signs point to an explosion of EV adoption. One of the main roadblocks that keep people from getting an EV is range anxiety, and that's about to be solved by a massive increase of charging stations nationwide. Walmart, Costco, Ionna, etc are committed to opening charging stations everywhere and they are going to be COMPETETIVELY PRICED. Just you wait: there will be lower prices and loyalty programs to entice us all. Similarly, the auto industry has finally chosen a charger tip standard: NACS has won the VHS vs Beta war and consumer confusion will dissipate and holdouts will harbor one less reason to wait-and-see. 5) Soon, there will only be EVs anyways. Many Big Auto companies have already announced an eventual end to their production of ICE vehicles. A death knell has sounded.

For every pessimistic "Slate will fail" video I've seen, there are also about 5 that are middle-of-the-road realistic and withold voicing a strong opinion about Slate Auto's chances of success and another 5 that are quite optimistic and point out a strong possibility of a genuine sea change in not only the EV industry, but the auto industry in general, the kind of change that is only brought about by underestimated competitors...

Watch this actual seasoned expert rave about Slate:
