Not sure why, but I’ve only seen one picture of the Slate motor and axle area. That was in a discussion article in an automobile magazine. I’m wondering why slate hasn’t posted more details of the mechanics of the vehicle and how things underneath are protected. This is a work truck after all… And driving in a field and smacking on a rock on occasion is going to happen. If it’s gonna take the whole motor out when I bump into my axle… Do I really want to get involved with this?
I did not see skid plates or any protection in the photo I saw.
Could we get more details somewhere?

I can't wade through them all, but the two Munro videos have some info.

The most recent shows the beefy skidplate for a few seconds.

The one from last winter they go through the undercarriage in detail, but it was a prototype. You get a good look at the motor, the axles and the De Dion suspension.

Because I care for you OP, and I'm a great guy, I did some research. :)

This video may be all you need. The first Munro video. I'm thinking the more recent view I saw was Redline Reviews. Nevermind, scan through this video, starting with a screenshot.

I’m assuming it’s permanent magnet, but have they ever confirmed this? Much less likely, but still possibly, EESM.
