My understanding is that this isn't the case because of the re-gen breaking in EVs. The extra weight requires more power during acceleration but also gives more back during re-gen. Weight's not the range killer, aerodynamics are.Just keep in mind that storing all that extra gear and associated weight doesn’t help your range, which is already limited right out of the gate.
For example when I'm towing my boat I see a 20% drop in gas mileage in my ICE. I expect to see the same with the Slate. Fortunately, my trip to the water and back is only 50 miles max, usually only 30 miles.
