Did you say carport? If that outlet is exposed to the elements I would also install a watertight electrical enclosure. I would also add a lockbox (or turn the breaker off when not in use) so that your neighbors don’t take advantage. Just saying.
That horn has the masculinity of the VW bug 😳. And unfortunately it sounds a bit cheap. Production versions may have better materials, as teased by several reviewers.

GM has just announced that their next generation Bolt will start at $30k and the Equinox at $41k. I understand that these models don’t compete with the utility and versatility of the Slate truck but I think it’s...
I have a crazy idea….
Since this is one of the most active and lively discussion groups out there, what if event attendees wear a name tag with our forum display name? I think it would be interesting to meet fellow members in person. This is optional, of course. Just a thought. And...
Well … we are almost halfway through June and still no info on these events. Not leaving us much time to plan a visit. I hope we’re not further disappointed with delays or cancellations.
Excellent observation on the phone locking out when idle. Mine seems to do that in 15 seconds (I know it can be adjusted). I hope the software techs at Slate get it right and have an option not to let your phone lock whenever the app is running. I have a security camera app and I set it to...
Interesting that this thread laid dormant for over a month. Now to share my opinion. We can debate all day long about ambiguous selling prices after incentives and pseudo comparisons to similar ICE vehicles from the late 80s etc until the cows come home.
My original point was that if Tesla...
Perhaps, but I thought the appeal of this vehicle is DIY. Slate University will guide us step by step on wrapping.
The point I am making is to keep it out of collision shops in the event of a mishap.
I noted this as well. As I indicated it may have been an earlier prototype and Slate just slapped on generic tail lights from the parts bin. In other footage it definitely looks like platform, dash, and front end is legit.
Well said. Slate’s presence is already being felt. They have not sold a single unit but have already exerted downward pressure on pricing from several auto makers (eg Nissan, Ford, Tesla). Also seeing lower contented versions of Tesla Models with lower sticker prices. Keep it coming...
Well, there were a couple of interesting facts I picked up from this article. Slate assembled 70 betas and prototypes in a makeshift factory located 20 miles from their Troy headquarters. That's impressive since they were mostly hand built without automation. Granted, it took them 2 years to...
From this screen shot (00:37 seconds) it clearly shows a modified Cascadia Motion Integrated Drive Module. Cascadia is a US-based automotive supplier, subsidiary of BorgWarner, that develops and manufactures inverters, traction motors, and geartrains for various electric vehicle applications...
The compatibility with Tesla’s supercharger NACS network is virtually guaranteed. While ‘Slate’ is not yet listed, I bet I could charge it today using “other.”
However if you want to pay lower Tesla rates, you need to sign up for the $12.99 monthly membership fee. Fisker, Lucid, Rivian...
Nice catch! It’s possible that one slot will be designated for the driver and the second for the passenger window. Those switches are not showing up with standard crank handles so this appears to be correct.
Just captured this close up of the door panel card. Some observations:
1. It's not clear why anyone would want to spec a white or light-colored fabric for the doors. Especially if this is marketed as a work truck.
2. From an ergonomics standpoint, the power window switch is a bit obtrusive...
