The R2 is a more likely Tesla killer than the Slate. Need one car under $50K that does it all and is an EV…that’s the R2. Need a second (or third) car that is a cheap, reliable commuter or work vehicle…that’s the Slate.
I have Bilstein 6112s (with height adjustment snap rings) on the front of my FJ. They are fantastic. Shock Surplus assembled the struts with coil over for me, then I installed them DIY, then I got an alignment. I know the rear of the Slate has coils but I don’t know if they are part of coil over...
At quoted prices, the Telo is close to the Rivian R2 which, although not a truck, is going to be a much better vehicle than the Telo. If $45-50K is your budget, the choice is a no brainer.
I haven't seen any details yet about how Slate will do the lift. I'm assuming its a simple hat at the top of the MacPherson strut in front and maybe a longer coil in back...possibly longer shocks in back too. Has anyone seen enough of the MacPherson knuckle they are using to see if there is...
If I bought a vehicle with integrated PV panels I would be instantly/constantly worried that the PV tech would be obsolete in a matter of months. In which case I would probably not make that purchase. I would, however, seriously consider the solar generator approach with easily replaceable...
I changed from custom image to single color (plus decal overlay). I'm guessing that this will be a lot cheaper than doing a custom image print. Also my business needs changed...
Quite a few people in the automotive press don’t get what the Slate is all about. Because they don’t understand it, they compare it to the market they know, not the market that used to exist. I also think certain reviewers get spiffed to do positive reviews. Demuro, I may or may not be looking...
I really liked my fog lights on my Alltrack, but agree that not all fog lights are equally capable. Definitely helped when driving somewhere with no ambient light at night.
Keeping my ICE (FJ Cruiser) so keeping all those tools. I have to believe the Slate suspension will need maintenance if keeping long term…maybe even upgrades if adding weight.
I make use of a DIY garage with lifts that is located not too far away. Have done control arm replacement. Front struts. Rear shocks and springs. Brake pads and rotors all around. Steering fluid. Brake fluid. Differential fluid. Oil changes. Cabin air filter I do in my driveway. :)
