It’s not about the physical size of the battery. Slate is engineering the frame once around the larger battery size, but the BMS specifically tailored to the battery size being managed. I think Slate will position the battery (regardless of size) to best balance the vehicle weight to optimize...
Now I'm thinking about that Open Air concept. If the third brake light is part of the rear cab section that has the operable glass and the Open Air does not have that part, how will the third brake light be handled? Mounted to the roll bar?
The previous owner of my FJ installed full convex side mirrors...they are great and almost completely eliminate the dreaded FJ blind spots. They also look just like normal flat mirrors.
I think software, battery management, and motors are the best parts of Teslas. The rest of the build is less than stellar. Interior fit and finish, suspension, and ride quality are all pretty bad (although some people love the front seats). A used five year old Tesla feels more like a 10 year...
The Slate does look like a Luv (see image…I like those four headlights, reminds me of my old 325i). If you need a small pickup and willing to go both Ford and ICE, I can see why you might be looking at the Maverick as well.
Agreed. But some good general advice: 1) drive slowly, 2) brake early, 3) add weight in the back (Slate already has this with both the battery and motor but with the bed it can hold sand bags easily), and 4) have the right tires. Understanding how the Slate handles in snow is key as another...
I don’t think we know about GPS yet or if the Slate will talk to the Internet. It definitely has a rear view back up camera. Also don’t know yet about TPMS. It’s an EV…no shifting to assist. Who wants AI in their car? You already have it on your phone which is how software updates will be done.
