I think most people that buy Slate and "can only afford one car", aren't going on road trips. Because they can't afford to.
They just want something that's reliable to get them to work so they don't lose their job.
I was expecting the tailgate to lineup with the 2x4 supports in the bed of the slate.
With the Maverick, the fenders are designed differently, and we just put a sheet of plywood in before the drywall, worked great.
And to add to this, things are often sold at a loss (less than the cost to produce the item).
This is usually done when future profits after the sale make up for the initial loss or to compete with a competitor to gain market share.
Hey everyone, we don't know the price because Slate hasn't told us.
How about we just wait till they release the price. Then we can argue about it being too high or low? 😂
The Ford Maverick tailgate can be set to the same height as the fenders so you can load 4x8 goods.
My friend has a Maverick and we used the tailgate trick to haul 8 sheets of drywall and some plywood and it worked great.
If Slate can't widen the area between the fenders then they need to copy...
I was reading that for the size of battery 150miles was a low range estimate, so it might make sense that the 150 number is with the 20-80 or a 10-90.
But they definitely wouldn't advertise 150 miles and then lock it out to only 90.
I think the biggest thing that sets Slate apart from the other startups is leadership. They have some of the best of the best in the company. And not just flashy names but people with proven track records.
I think it's very possible that they intended to sell just under $20k with incentives but they might drop the price to make up for the loss of the credit. "Mid 20s" leaves wiggle room for what that price will be.
From the pictures of the doors with the power option added it looks like they just add a motor to the manual crank. So maybe the direction has to do with the motor direction?
My whole comment is just guesses.
I agree, no idea why everyone thinks Slate cares about the tax credit. If you notice they don't seem bothered by it at all. They already knew their market.
Honestly, I think it's because the YouTubers and reviewers are used to all these expensive cars and they themselves make a lot of money...
When was the automatic detection supposed to be in cars? We have a 2024 Mazda CX-90 and if it senses you might be tired it will give you a notification to "take a rest". But other than the notification it doesn't do anything else.
Actually they were around mid $30k until 2023 when they dropped the starting price to 28k and that's when they started to sell. If slate can keep they're price point in the mid 20k range it will sell pretty good.
And you have to remember, most of the people who will buy a mid 20k but not a low...
