I would not say it is that speculative. That is Google's AI price for the extra cost of the long range battery on the Slate.

All of these quotes from reporters are based on the reporters calculating the incentive price minus incentive.
The only verified pricing I've seen from slate even in actual interview videos since the incentive was cancelled is the same as the web site. "Mid-20s". That is probably all we will get for info for the next 9 months or so, early next year they plan to be giving more info, including accessory pricing.

I'm sure they will be trying to keep the price as "mid-20s" as possible but there are variables out of their control, including things like the Brazil sourced window regulators going up in cost 50% due to politics.

It does no good for everyone to keep posting quotes from articles claiming the 27499 price, we all know about that and where it came from.

$27,500 is the current best price. That is $20,000 the original quote from Slate given the federal discount of $7,500 and without the federal discount gives $27,500.

And once again someone demonstrating that they can add. It is based on out of date info though.
Everyone knows this math, slate hasn't finalized the price though, the only recent quotes are al "Mid-20s" and that's probably all their employees are allowed to say.

Guessing any statement prior to tax incentive going away before the new legislation became law is likely out of date.
It is out of date for the tax incentive since there is no more tax incentive. Except Slate got their $20K price from subtracting $7.5K from their current price. How does the current price become out of date?

So when you go to the store to buy something, the cost given by the store does not mean anything. It is what you are willing to pay. I wonder how the store figures that out.

We might say that a store price is advertised, you then go to the store and bargain with them if they are willing to bargain.

Slate told us that when the $7.5K federal discount was in effect that they would sell for just under $20K. That means that the price of the Slate before using the federal discount was just under $27.5K.
