    Production motor JJE

Sorry to late post, but when I try to convert the torque to pound feet I get crazy numbers. Peak torque on this motor says 3200 Newton Meters. When I plug that into a converter I get 2360 ft lbs which can't be right. You couldn't touch the throttle without shredding the back tires. Can...

Could this be the wrap company Slate is partnering with?

The learning curve is high on the editor for sure. This took me a lot longer than it should have.

Could this be the wrap company Slate is partnering with?

They already have the slate pattern. I'm betting they've been doing the custom wraps for slate we've seen so far, but of course that's just a guess.

    New battery technology

I fully expect all of us early adopters to have a little buyer's remorse a couple of years after we buy. 4WD. Better batteries. Long bed versions. 4 door versions. Perhaps other vehicles like cars or 3 row suvs. I don't really care. If they come out with something I really like better, I'll...

Slate event in San Francisco @ Motoring Coffee 8/9/25 - photos & impressions

I'm sure it's been answered somewhere, but what is that 3rd button from the left? Dash lights brightness? And if so, how would it work, rocker switch? (doesn't appear like one) or multiple pushes?

One thing I think might hold Slate truck back.

80's mini-truck demographics were semi-retired and retired people over 60 needing a knockabout for getting crap from Home Depot, people who needed a cheap second car, and youngsters just starting out and wanting a NEW cheap car. And also people into the whole custom mini-truck scene. I believe...

    What is your order?

Original order: Extended range, upgraded tail lights, upgraded front signal lights, stickers for the wheels, some interior niceties, and a lower half wrap. Should look like this: Then I'll proceed slowly to upgrade this to what you see in my avatar.

Is FORD Preparing to Release a SLATE Competitor?

i'm interested. I thought Ford had given up. We'll see on the 11th I guess. I hope it looks less like an Escape than the fan renders. In any case, I'll buy a slate. Done with stealerships.

2 Slate trucks spotted on road in Arizona

Those mirrors don't look like other slates we've seen. I'm guessing they are early mules.

    An Observation on the Taillights

I'm planning on the upgraded led taillights and front turnlights. Curious to see how they work. I'd imagine the front ones will be amber.

    Ideas for Slate Accessories

If they don't make it removable, I don't see any reason you couldn't put a sunroof in that roof.

Double DIN radio compatible - questions

My question is where is the double din head unit going to go? My best guess is here. I'm hoping someone at one of the events will ask to see what's behind it.

Which generation will be the biggest owners of Slates?

I have owned two cars that were designed to appeal to the youth market, and in both cases, the average age of the purchasers was 50+. My Pontiac Solstice, and my wife's Scion. I hope this appeals broadly across all ages but I checked Boomer in the poll.

I hate the dashboard!! (and I propose a redesign)

Closest I can find so far. Looks like the big one next to it is designed for a speaker. Doesn't mean it couldn't be the one for the double din radio.
