I took it that the electrical system (LV) will be a 48volt system. They talk about the reduction in weight of the wiring harness and this achieved via the fact that a higher voltage system can be run on a greatly reduced size of wire. Thatās my speculation not actual comment from Ford.
Huh. You might want to check your sources again. The article is taking about delaying T3 (New midsized EV truck platform) not the F150. If youāre thinking itās a 150 Lightning replacement itās not. At least not a direct replacement. We likely see the Lightning go away when it comes to...
Yes, that is correct. However the T3 was originally announced as coming 2026, if memory serves. It was delayed once several months back to 2027 and now to 2028. If they keep that up, Iāll be dead and gone. š¤Ŗ
Be careful. That plug is not likely rated for a continuous draw at the amperage. Those are known for melting and burning.
The circuit may be ok, but that plug should be replaced with a UL listed EV plug.
Iām leaning Extended, however, based on cost I my go standard. I drive a 2022 Lightning with the extended range battery in it. I have never faced an issue with range and have never gone below 30%. Not because of fear, but just my usage case. (Home charging 95% of the time).
I will go...
Looks like Ford may be preparing to announce its next generation EV and it may actually be affordable.
Aug 11th is planned press day.

In addition they are using a single sku# for both sides. The single taillight is installable on either side. It simply flips over, much like the arm rests on the doors.
Their goal is to keep 'costs' down.
I would think if itās going to get longer 6ā is max for a truck of this size. Any longer and we lose the proportions that make it look like it does.
Boomers for sure. More disposable income and these were the trucks we started with. 1970-80 small Nissan, Toyota, Chevy S10 and Ford Ranger.
But hey, I am one so there is that.
CarVanna for delivery makes sense.
However, Walmart for service does not. These are electric vehicles. They are going to need a EV trained group of technicians.
I believe @sodamo has it right.
My understanding was that the truck would come off the line in only one of two configurations; Standard range or Extended range. Every other option would be installed after line production.
Could be wrong, but Iām pretty sure.
