Great idea1
This is the only color I want with my standard gray body.
White roof means less heat which is important as it's hot 11 months out of the year in always sunny So Calif.
My current EV is all white inside and out - helps a lot!
^^^ this is 100% correct for aviation.
The only benefit to running out of fuel in the air is that if you crash, no fires to worry about....
Fuel starvation while in the air is a disaster for any pilot.
Even the Cessnas I fly have the longest glide per altitude still does not make me feel...
Folks that live in cold weather areas should definitely get the extended range.
I am the outlier - warm weather year around so I am happy with my standard range (70kW) battery Mach E.
260 mile range at 100% is perfect for long distance trips - since I have gotten older, my body won't let me...
Yes, I know but when you drive in Los Angeles anytime of the day or night - congested freeways, highways, local streets where everyone cuts you off, my instinct is to jump on the brakes.
Now if I lived in a rural area where there are no numnuts cutting me off or slamming their brakes in...
From a Ford F150 Lightning EV owner for a year, I concur.
$70,000 and would not fit in my garage, U turns were abysmal, and driving in urban Los Angeles was a nightmare (too much driver input required).
Looked at the Maverick and didn't want gas.
Rivian was a mid size that I considered but...
Love that idea!
I'm a ham - over 45 years licensed since 1980.
BTW, trying to renew my license on line is a PAIN.
I just installed a 2m / Aviation dual band HT w/ Compactenna LMR mag mount on my EV.
Also have a 70cm mobile with 1/4 wave mag mount.
The antennas were a pain as there is not...
Funny, I had a '22 Lightning (first batch off the line) and hated the 1PD (lurches too much). Got nauseated driving in urban Los Angeles stop and go traffic.
Wife really hated 1PD as she got sick too. On rural drives without traffic, 1PD can work smoothly.
So ever since then, I turned it off...
California gas prices being near $6/gallon - I am sure driving cheap on EV.
Even using Tesla Superchargers during peak times.
Mach E charging at mega 64 Tesla Superchargers near my home.
If it can do BOTH 1PD and 2PD, I am in; like my Mach E.
If it only does 1PD like the Tesla, then nope.
I am a traditional 2PD and 3PD driver - have been for over 45 years.
Yes, people who have not owned an EV have range anxiety.
When I had a BEV, I was worried about the range.
My wife still has that and always says I should always charge to 100% every single time.
After 7 years of EV, I have learned to relax and practice ABC (always be charging)......
Now, I...
I would not get wrapped up about time stamps and reservation queues.
As @zipn said, it's more shipping locations and logistics when it comes to actual order & delivery.
Post #3 above shows my actual real world experience with reservations, orders, and actual vehicles.
I am just starting my PPL training at a senior age as I near retirement.
Just passed 3rd class FAA medical - took 6 months due to my age!
My dream is to own a Piper single engine and be able to get to remote fly fishing destinations when I retire.
Here's something that might be better than...
With the extended range pack, why not find public fast chargers or even Tesla Destination L2 chargers along the way ?
BTW are you an active private pilot ?
Yes, this was my question.
When I got my first BEV, I had to hunt down operational EA/EVGo/Shell/CP chargers with CCS1; and hated it - most were broken, offline or had a line of cars waiting for their "free" session.
Just when I was regretting my BEV purchase, Tesla opened up access for my BEV...
Great news - access to Tesla Superchargers is the most convenient and fastest way to charge in public.
When I got my Ford Mach E 2 years ago, had to wait for an open charger out of 2-3 available (Electrify America, EV Go, Shell ReCharge, Volta, Chargepoint).
Tesla opened up Supercharger...
Stock gray is fine.
Based on how many dents I get living in urban Los Angeles, the non wrapped will work best to hide the door dings, scratches and dents.
