More geographic location for comparing price difference which is huge in So Calif.
I pay a lot less EV charging using Tesla Superchargers ($0.31/kWh) than charging at home ($0.61/kWh).
And to add insult, gas prices are now $6.00 gallon.
Hate to say it, but I haven't had a $400 gasoline month...
Oh yes this ^^^^.
My past years of reserving EVs (Ford Lightning, Ford Mach E, GMC Denali EV, Chevy RTS EV) has taught me that initial pricing never really holds water.
GM really dropped the ball when they initially announced $41K Chevy 1EV truck but never came to fruition. Got my reservation...
You sound like a fellow aviator who is always looking to modify his plane.
By modifying this and that without certification by an A&P mechanic - I remind him that it's an invitation for disaster.
Here's a video of someone who modified their P51 Mustang Galloping Ghost and it crashed:
The only issue that might arise with some owners is the 100A breakers you would have to add in order to get 19kW (80A) to the battery using L2 (240V AC) in the panel.
My current EV charger at home is a L2 48A (11kW) w/ 60A breakers - that was a tight squeeze and now maxed out on my 200A...
Yes, I have a similar setup to recharge my EV - EcoFlow 3kW w/ solar panels.
Might take a couple of days on L1 to recharge my Ford EV, but at least if the grid fails and gas pumps stop running or out of fuel, my EV will still run.
Wish these solar battery companies come out with a 240V output...
Try driving in metropolitan Los Angeles traffic
You will learn to hate aggressive regen - as I learned I get nauseated in the bumper to bumper traffic....
You are looking way too far in the future - I have been waiting for a new EV battery for 5 years - still NCM or LFP. Very heavy and doesn't have the range or faster charge rates.
Slate using the NCM is a first gen model for sure.
Might have to wait another 5 years to get a newer affordable...
Very happy with charging specs - just like my Mach E charge specs...
Charging Port: NACS (Tesla standard)
Charging Speeds:
AC Charging: Up to 11 kW
DC Fast Charging: Up to 120 kW; 20–80% charge in approximately 30 minutes
Hate to burst your bubble, but regen happens in all drive modes with all Ford EVs (Whisper, Engaged, Unbridled).
It's a matter of how harsh the regen level that bothers me.
If I lived outside of Los Angeles traffic, I'd be fine with 1PD and the harsh regen.
But having to jump on the brakes...
Try convincing a baby boomer how to drive 1PD.
My brain and muscle memory is too old for this aged dog to learn new tricks.
Love my Mustang Mach E in Whisper Mode - coasts and drives like and ICE.
Ford Transit EV has about the same range and I see many fleet companies use them in the city where I am.
Plus I see them at Tesla Superchargers charging up during the day and watch the employees take their lunch while charging.
I am not concerned about the short time I will own an EV so I charge to 100% on L2 and L3.
Don't plan on keeping my first gen EV past 3-4 years as new tech are coming out all the time.
2 years with my Mach E and battery degradation has been observed.
Maybe the next gen EV will have batteries...
My $53K Ford Mach E and $70K Ford Lightning has those features including hands free driving (Blue Cruise) makes for long distance driving almost effortless.
Don't need those features in a low cost compact commuter utility truck for $25K.
That's not what the Slate is designed for....
Hope it gets voted down.
Especially here in So Cal where gas prices are going up over the $6/gallon mark.
One reason I got the Ford Lightning and Mach E was for the tax credits......
Nice job on a 150 !
I hope to own mine soon.
Trainer planes are good to learn on, but I am going to look for fuel injected engine planes - really don't like the piston engine climb performance.
My dream plane if I win the Lotto:

Gas prices here in So Calif are currently just under $6/gallon and it's going higher due to refinery issues.
EV rates are high (home charging) but much cheaper using Tesla Superchargers (w/ Tesla membership).
EV is still way cheaper even if you have to charge at public fast chargers.....
