It comes down to HOW cheap we're talking. Would I buy a used dubious Slate if I could get it for $1000 or under? Absolutely. Even if it only got 40 miles of range that would be a great around the town clunker. If they suffer from the same depreciation as other EVs in that time period you could...
I actually got an answer back on this one just recently after bringing up the question in that sunroof thread. Figured I'd ask them directly:
My direct question was "is the top roof panel on the slate pickup removable? I live in an area with a lot of tree/storm damage and would like to know if...
I'm not gonna speak too much about it as I'm sure it's not what Slate would want to hear, but I'm not sure what would be stopping the end-user from just installing the seats with nothing else in the back. IF they are just bolt-in accessories they'd just be separate parts. Not that I'd want to be...
I've only had to use mine once but it was a lifesaver! Had to get some long sections of PVC home that would have otherwise made me keep the tailgate open.
Way too early to speculate but I wonder if Slate will handle their own financing for customers. Interest payments would help soften it a little on purchases.
Wow, everyone keeps talking about the Bezos investment, but one of the other major investors [Mark Walter] has a large amount of car-based interests:
Maybe we'll get our Slate racing series after all LOL
It's insane, one town in the metroplex, Frisco, had a population of just 35K in 2000. Now it's sitting at 225K, and every other town like it all around is doing the same!
LOL true, I just want a good excuse to visit San Antonio! I won't complain if they come to the DFW Metroplex either. They'll get a LOT of people if they go there!
Fresh air vents would be nice, shoot, with no hot ICE engine in the front they could easily do a fresh-air vent like older cars had that was an extra duct straight from the front of the truck into the dashboard!
This many events in one month tells me they are splitting up their available fleet of demo trucks into different teams and we should see a good scattering of events from here on in.
Waiting for a Texas event... they better not pick Austin! :computerrage:
It dawned on me that since the panels are all 'individual' and designed to be wrapped independently, that you could option different colors on whatever panels you wanted.
Slate offers white lower/upper white body wrap, but I wanted to see what it would look like in a two-tone. I wish the Slate...
Seeing early reviews on Jalopnik of them on the highway with the windshield down, roof open, and doors off almost sold me on a Gladiator. If only they had a two-door...
My Hondas have the J hooks and it's lovely. My LTD has the Ford 'pin' style that always makes me second guess if I have the right wiper hole. All I ask for is a simple pair of 18'' wipers on the front with J hooks!
Ford used to have spots molded into the Ranger's bed-liner intended for putting 2x4s across that made a flat load floor for plywood that was at the same height as the wheel wells. Would be nice if slate did the same.
I'm thinking the Slate will probably not have the anti-pinch if they're going for a simple drop in motor box. Maybe they'll have some logic onboard measuring current draw of the motor and have it cut off if it reaches above a certain threshold. Doing some research I found what looked like a...
I want very few options, but depending on the price for the extended range, I might go for it. I could use the extended range for a few trips I typically do in a gas car already.
I almost bought a Dodge Power Wagon once with white wheels. And came so close to pulling the trigger on plasti-dipping the wheels on my Fit white. I love the look.
That's what I'm thinking. They make wire specifically designed for continuous bending that will hold up in a door, and even then doors don't stress the wiring TOO much, it would be easy to add a pair through the existing boot if they have to have it already there for power locks.
The bottom...
