I'd have to look at the Munro video again when they look at the underside of a Slate but I bet it has mounting points for a hitch. Wouldn't make sense not to include those from the start.
Update: I don't see anything but a suspicious square molded into the bumper. Bet that you'd have to cut...
I'm surprised Slate hasn't leaned into that one. With crank windows, no radio, you're raw doggin' every trip.
It's always fun to see Raw Dogging from that Seinfeld Episode or random other older stuff gain traction again. You never know what is all of a sudden get rediscovered. All of a sudden...
I did some digging around from other owners forums. A lot of the Euro and JDM people like to convert theirs over to those styles and I was curious what they did. That and people designing custom beds for pickups.
Not that this is anywhere in Slate's roadmap but that would be one more step...
TL;DR: Slate's appear to have single bulb red taillight/turn signal combos and I'd like to know if they're really one bulb, asking Slate directly and will post answer, I'd rather have the option for separate turn signals.
I've noticed, looking at the two pictures of the Slate we have seen in...
I helped someone install a set of dashcams, along with a backup battery system, in a minivan once. That allowed them to keep the dashcams running separately from the car if the car lost power suddenly. Truckers and fleets have had luck with "Mobile DVR" units, and the results I've seen have...
Hoping the base price alone will push down the insurance price. And that they're all just 'Blank Slate or Blank Slate Extended Range.' It'll be hard to insure addons but it will keep the base insurance down.
If it wasn't for the ultra-minimalist interiors, I'd consider a used Model 3, but I'm gonna keep holding onto my reservation and see what happens! Buying one or not it has been interesting so far to see a company start-to-eventual-finish fully produce a car from just prototypes.
I agree, there has to be SOME things they would do factory side. Every set of upsized wheels and tires they install at the factory is one set they don't have to ship back. SUV kit I can maybe get, but the lift kit, larger tires, the things that involve actual swaps, you think they'd do that...
I know for sure his was an automatic, but I never had the pleasure of driving it so I can't specify if it was 3 or 4 speed. He was on the golf team and I do know that trunk could swallow a golf bag. I'd still rate it above a friend of mine's Neon as at least the HVAC controls all didn't break...
If Slate does go through with the partnered service center, they'll have trucks coming and going all week delivering parts to and from them. Just throw the return wheels and tires from the base model someone upfitted onto the truck back to the distribution center. Or keep a set of spare base...
The dash speakers look like 4'' units, but there are removable panels in the bottoms of the doors. Slate had mentioned a 'high level audio' package during one of their more informal interviews, so we're still waiting to see what that means. I am on team 'double din radio and door speakers.'
Same here, I hope someone makes one, I'd be all in for a wing. I remember a lot of 90s minitrucks having little tonneau cover spoilers. Heck, you don't even have to paint whatever one goes on a Slate! I bet someone will at least make a bigger version of the little wing on the tailgate.
I always have liked longbeds over shorties but the buyer consensus, around here at least, is 2-door shortbeds are the go-to for commuter pickups. I see a ton of (now discontinued) Ram 1500 and F150 Sports in that configuration:
At least Ford / Chevrolet still lets you get one, base 2WD V8...
