I've had a coworker who has been following Aptera for years and years. He was also an Elio fan and almost got his hands on an ElectraMeccanica SOLO before they recalled almost all of them. The Telo trucks seem nice, but I think they're going to outsource production, which is always a recipe for...
Hemmings wrote an article two weeks ago comparing the Slate to a Ford Model A:

Everything there is a positive for me but the sunroof. I have already posted about it before, but I've seen a leaky sunroof total out a Volkswagen*. Just more things to go wrong. Optional I can say OK to, but give me the option to not have it.
*Why would you put the BCM under the driver's side...
The subject is already beaten to death, but the SUV kit, as we have seen with what people say about AWD, extended range, ect. is probably more for if you might need it every once in a while.
When I was looking for a convertible weekend car, I wanted one specifically that had rear seats, because...
I don't know how they're set up yet, but my Geo has the tailgate-mounted spare tire. The jack and lug-wrench are mounted under the passenger seat. These are things that are probably completely absent on the prototype.
My worst offender is a little over 13 seconds for 0-60 and I haven't really had any problems getting on the highway. Passing on the other hand, the time it takes to go from 50-70, would be interesting to see. In my Geo and LTD that's a death wish.
Level 1 might be all I end up needing for overnight charging. I've got outlets right at the end of the garage that I could plug it into. The only downside is I did the wiring. 🔥
In case anyone doesn't realize this, if you have the feature turned on (knowing Google it's on by deafult) your phone has probably been logging every trip you make every day. Google's Timeline even gives you driving miles.
I pulled up my Google maps timeline for the last four years and looked at...
I think the hump is a great idea. I don't mind having a tire on the tailgate but I think that this hump makes for a great cargo box. My LTD Country Squire actually has a similar setup, just done parallel with the wagon on one side. I'll post a picture below.
On my Country Squire, Ford put a...
I've been up to 90+ in some cases here on Texas highways keeping up with traffic. The wide, flat, smooth highways give people way more confidence than they should have for a packed semi-urban freeway. My poor Tracker has been up to 85 on it a few times. It happily did it, but it was LOUD.
Just caught that she's there in the livestream. Slate's really rubbing elbows with the big wigs. Lucid and Ford's EV team had a representative there as well. If I can keep watching I'll see if they do any random judge interviews.
I'd fully expect my local (whatever repair company Slate partners with) to be where I pick mine up. Whoever is their Slate representative will give me a quick ten minute tour of how to turn it on and off and what accessories are with it, and send me on my way.
Might part of why Slate was hiring specifically for seat engineering/design people in one of their job listings. Probably have to get all of those requirements properly integrated into whatever seat they go with.
With the 'approval only' livestream, the whole mystical skunkworks group that not even the heads are allowed to see, and the talk of this being a Model T moment, I was expecting to least show us a platform on wheels or some renders... the reveal was just
I can't wait for these to start making it down south and we'll see how many endormorphs corn-fed good 'ol boys it can fit in the back seats.
I almost bought a Mercury with the same rear seating setup as that Lexus. Good idea on paper, but really only for emergencies.
We routinely stuffed...
