I think the Slate would look great with a lowered suspension and a body kit. Combined the potential autocross eligibility and we'll see a resurgence of cheap little 'sport' trucks. I hope the modding scene gets their hands on these and starts doing some wild stuff with them.
Closest I've seen...
I can't wait to see how Slate's hold up when they get their final body panels and interiors. I really hope they either do some serious durability testing, or farm it out to a third party testing agency.
There was a brilliant video from a German firm that did stress tests for VW, they released a...
I've got my Element if I need to pull a uHaul 5X9 ramp trailer and smaller things. The Slate is more for the dirty, muddy, stuff that a pickup bed can swallow up.
I'd like to see what Slate does with some mulch in the back. I know early Rivian pickup owners were finding spots under the bed that...
Finally, some better driving footage, even if it was still short! At least proves it works on the highway and roads at this stage in development.
Interesting hood shot though, shows some lumps and bumps:
I am in on the Slate purely for the small pickup concept. It could run on kerosene and I'd still be interested.
In regards to the ICE engines, I'm really hoping the Slate takes off, because with the price point, I fully expect it to become a test-bed for some vanity projects. I'm sure within a...
I expect this to be the case too. Speakers are slim enough that you can stuff them in just about any size door. There's already a square panel with screws on it on the bottom of the doors, exectly where most OEMs put their 6'' rounds.
Even if not, 90-91 Ford LTD Crown Vics had speaker pods they...
I think that's still pretty pricey for everything they removed. Especially as they will now stick out as 'budget' Teslas. I still can't get over the Model Y having the glass roof covered, surely it was cheaper to just keep the roof as-is insted of designing new panels, a cover, etc. The Model 3...
It's funny you post that, I was talking to my father about taking his Honda Ruckus off of his hands that we used to use back in the day as a pit bike. "How would you get it home?" It'll fit right in the Element!
Never even considered they'd have rake like that, but it makes sense. Thinking about it now, my wagon has the heavy duty suspension package, intended for towing, so it has very aggressive rake. Combined with the shape of the car tapering upwards slightly and the whole thing looks like it's doing...
Given the size of the state, I wouldn't be surprised if Texas gets the California treatment. We see a Dallas -> San Antonio -> Austin -> Houston four weekend round trip of showings.
I've never been a fan of Tesla since way back, but I will concede if they had done some sort of "Honda Ridgeline" type Pickup with a Model 3 they would have sold gangbusters. Heck, ~I~ would have even considered one, even if it would have been a four door with sail panels like the 1st gen Ridgeline.
I saw a transport truck full of the new shorter wheelbase Chevrolet Bright Drop trucks heading into Dallas so there's definitely still a fleet market for EVs out there.
I'd absolutely do it, the Slate would be replacing my only proper autocrossing car so that's convenient.
I have done an event or two a few years ago. But never had anyone to go with. A group I'm in now is doing meets again and are trying to push me to take my Fit to it. They say it's a great...
That happened here. Two new plants were announced and seemingly overnight every plot of farmland that had been sitting on the market for years were all sold. Apartments going up all over the place!
Exactly, nothing wrong with doing this, especially headlights and taillights. Costs a lot of money to not only design, but also DOT certify lighting, so all sorts of autobody builders, RV makers, and super-car companies simply design in off-the-shelf parts. Car radios, HVAC controls, and stuff...
Exactly, it can be all nice and curated. It doesn't have to be a live-feed or anything like that. I just want to see it actually start and stop and drive around a bit.
We'll probably never get a prototype live-drive from anyone after Elio had the fender incident.
