Report: Slate Factory Delivery Under Consideration! Would Take Place In This Room

I paid about $1500 to ship a car from the middle of Pennsylvania to Texas. Mind you, car transporters are a huge gamble on quality. My only auto transporter experience wasn't the best one. They parked my car under a 50s car, which peed oil all over the front windshield and hood... which the...

Article: "Slate Auto’s Sophomore Album Problem: What Comes Next?" -- what do you think?

In one of the photos of the Slate at the Detroit showing, there's a kid who looks to be 12 or 13 next to the Slate. The hood comes up to about his shoulders. Given Slate's own size comparison on their site, he'd be completely invisible to a Silverado.

Report: Slate Factory Delivery Under Consideration! Would Take Place In This Room

The factory's 15 hours away from me. However, I've helped my way-more-die-hard-car-guy friends enough with random projects they've given me full use of their Ram and fifth-wheel. Would be a fun road trip to drive up, pick it up, and take it back. Probably undo all of my delivery fee savings in...

Does the SUV kit make sense?

The Honda Elements actually have this constraint. The internal total cargo capacity is something like 600lb, easily exceeded by four adult good 'ol boys.

Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror - An Example of an Install if Slate Does not Offer One

Realised I never posted a full picture of the final results! Getting some heat soak from the sensor being too close to the hot hood and radiator, but I located it where I did so I'd have plenty of slack to move it down and forward if necessary. In the world of modern cars with every readout...

Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror - An Example of an Install if Slate Does not Offer One

As the Slate prototypes that have been shown thus far all have manually operated day/night flip mirrors. I'll show you the mod I've done to almost every car I own. It's a real game-changer and, depending on what route you go, really easy. My first car had one of Gentex's earliest 'modern' auto...

Does the SUV kit make sense?

You should see the slide of legalese that "Faraday Future" put out about their promises with their new van they claim is an 'empath' and has a 'soul.' If it's hard to read, the terms "estimates, projected, anticipates, forecasts, plans, intends, believes, seeks, may, will, should, future...

For fun - Overall Size / Wheelbase of Slate truck compared to other vehicles

My Geo, a wheelbase of 86.6 inches, for comparison. I only had ClipStudio Paint to work with so I tried to go off of wheels. The Geo has 15''.

Factory allowance/channels/tubes for running additional wires later (signal/power/fiber)

I don't know if Slate's towing capacity warrants brake controls but I'm sure we'll at least get a 4 pin adapter of some sort.

    It's still a head-turner whenever I see Toyota's attempt at a soap step-side bed:

Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

I think, if Slate gets enough sales that it can sustain itself for a second model, is to take the Slate architecture and make a tall-roof van. Similar to how Nissan converted Titans into NV2500s I'm using the tall roof example since Slate's are so much smaller, they could get away with it...

    Low power mode

Right you are, dug around the forums for a decent interior shot and found one that's hard to read but clearly has PUSH | AC and PUSH | HEAT also out of curiosity I was looking up what analog instrument clusters for EVs look like, quite the variety: 2011 Th!nk City 1980 Vanguard Comuta Car

how many 2 door pickups of any kind are sold each year?

This, I'd probably still be interested in the Slate even if was some weird ICE and got 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene. Years ago my mom wanted a fleet spec F150 2WD 2-door and was only able to find one in a color because it was a mis-order by a local dealer.

how many 2 door pickups of any kind are sold each year?

Nissan Hardbody pickups around here will not die. I saw one with a massive wood stake bed on it just this week.

    Low power mode

I don't know if there will be much to turn off. Low power mode in a Slate will be driving around with the AC off and the windows down... Assuming the 'heater' only comes on when you have it cranked towards heat, we need a fresh-air only mode. That's all I can think of for cutting power. LED...

What are your personal MUST HAVE Add-Ons/Accessories for your Slate?

I've listed my want for a power dimming rear-view mirror before, but here's an actual example of what I'm going to do: This is a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder at the Pick-n-Pull, and the Gentex 4 series mirror I pulled from it on Friday. I'm replacing my Element's standard manual mirror with it...

Dear Slate - you need to show these things before I'll buy

I'll be first in line! I've followed the 'first releases' of a few cars over the years and it seems like first batches/redesigns of everything from Broncos to Cybertrucks, Fieros to Elements, are always gonna have something. Hopefully it's something small like the Element's new '07 instrument...

Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

One thing that's kind of neat is down the line if someone wants to pick up a used one, it doesn't hurt too badly if it's not the specific configuration they wanted. They can just order whatever is missing separately. As someone who has been in that boat, hunting for a specific trim level with...

Video (Audio): Interview of Tisha Johnson, Slate's Head of Design

Ah, the 'Bar of Soap' design, one of the few automotive design trends I'd rather never see make a comeback. On more than one occasion I'd have a box that would it in the BACK of the trunk, but not the front due to those sloped trunk lids.
