    Simple low-tech audio ideas

I'm gonna guess the Slate app is going to require cel service by default. Probably what they'll be using for their over the air updates and so the app will expect a connection to check for those. I've still got this sitting in my closet waiting for the perfect car...

Slate: Driving footage? We got you.

I really wish they'd give us at least one solid video of it just driving around. No cuts, nothing fancy. A simple ride along for a minute or two on some basic suburban roads.

    Simple low-tech audio ideas

I've got a few double-din radios from the 80s all the way to a 6-disc with Aux from a Ford F150 I pulled for a friend that ended up selling the truck that would make good Slate candidates until I decide if I want an Android Auto unit.

New Video: Seeing the Preproduction Slate Truck in Person - Reality Check

I'm sure a lot of these fitment issues will be ironed out by the time they're making these full production. Especially that frunk shot where it looks like they dremel'd out more plastic for clearance.

The Ram 1500 REV Electric Pickup Truck Is Dead!

"Ram is renaming its REEV-powered pickup to Ram 1500 REV (formerly Ramcharger) " If Ram doesn't end up calling their Ram that Charges itself the RamCharger that'll be the most Stellantis thing I've ever seen.

    Flip-Up Rear Window?

Nope, just a jagged end where it was busted off. He'd shove that end into some random hole in the hood and the end with the grip would be the side that sat down in the engine bay, LOL.

    Flip-Up Rear Window?

Back in the day my roommate's VW had a golf club with the head busted off.

I have trouble buying a vehicle sight unseen

Chrysler, 60's, they loaned out a handful of their turbine cars to families in some sort of raffle to use as daily drivers. From what I read they got a lot of good research data out of it, and those owners were the talk of their towns for a while. Would be good advertising for a Slate and also...

What are your personal MUST HAVE Add-Ons/Accessories for your Slate?

It's a rough render but Slate has shown an accessory switch set that goes in the middle of the truck, above the HVAC controls. So your fog light switches would be right in the center!

    This Is So Boring Now

I've mentioned before but one of my friends has a paint booth and we're gonna find out if we can get our hands on a Slate.

LuxrageintheCage, thanks! It's pretty empty but I do post things from time to time.

    This Is So Boring Now

I hope they keep the public posted on the progress of their factory, at least the locals for upcoming job creation. They worked on two massive factories in my town for years but didn't make a big media spectacle out of it until only recently. Unrelated, but I was endlessly scrolling my...

From a design point of view, what limits the slate to 1000 pounds towing capacity

^This, I know a few people who have towed pretty big trailers with Crown Vics just by putting the bigger hitch on it and a brake controller, but the factory package included a whole lot more:

    This Is So Boring Now

This is probably going to be the slowest time of the Slate timeline. They're still finalizing the prototype and anything they show isn't gonna be the final result so they can't reveal too much. In a few months from now once they get it 100% figured out, I bet we'll start seeing Slate University...

Ford announces new base Trim for 2026 Maverick starting at $27,145

In helping friends buy new cars I've encountered so many addons and things that were fights or stalemates to get removed. "Complimentary VIN etching on all of the glass for $1000. No we can't remove that we already etched the glass." to the LO-Jack pre-installed whether or not you want it, to...

Is the Rivian R3 trying to compete with Slate's Fastback Version?

It's hard to compete with that shape. The Slate and Rivian are only a little more raked forward than a Range Rover.

Hey Slate! You're out of events!

They have their design studio in California so I wouldn't be surprised if they have a dedicated group that just shows up to California events. Radwood SoCal is in late October and I'd hope they'd make a showing there. Actually there's a Radwood in two weeks in Detroit, they really should show up...

Factory allowance/channels/tubes for running additional wires later (signal/power/fiber)

This reminds me of an article put out a years ago about how almost no pickup trucks can actually carry the 'bed pools' people make in them. The data is old but the point still stands: The original site is gone but the infographic was rehosted here.

Article: "Slate Auto’s Sophomore Album Problem: What Comes Next?" -- what do you think?

The Smart ForTwo was able to pass US safety ratings with its tiny front crumple-zone. I remember reading they made the space-frame around the driver an ultra-rigid safety cage like a NASCAR vehicle. Fill your frunk full of beer/soda cans and ice and it'll double as one of those highway water...
