Fast-Charging at home for Slate EV possibly by eliminating onboard charger-inverter (using Exro's Coil Driver inverter technology_

There are some terrific power station home backup systems on the market that would be a lot easier, and better, to use than the Slate. Draining the Slate battery so that the vehicle can't be used for its intended purpose leaves me scratching my head. That said, having some ability to use the...

Slate for business and fleet customers

I won't have a fleet, but I do think a Slate will be perfect for my business with a custom wrap. The green aspect of it is a big plus.

Is it cheaper to do all this or just replace the wrap every five years (more years for me in Seattle)?

Why are folks comparing an ICE/Hybrid to a BEV?

Definitely apples to oranges. If evaluating purely on cost of ownership (not acquisition cost), the EV is going to be cheaper...perhaps much cheaper (fuel and maintenance). Acquisition cost between a new Maverick and the Slate are very close. Comparing on utility is more difficult. If you need a...

    Need FM Radio

I have to believe Slate did their research on this and found that the majority of their target market use their phone to stream music or listen from their phone's music library...and that the majority of their target market don't listen to radio and if they do, they stream radio using an app on...

Now that the dust has settled...

I test drove a Maverick Tremor and really liked it. Great road manners. I just think comparing the Maverick (or any ICE vehicle) to the Slate is an apples to oranges comparison. If the comparison is all about which truck is the best value for the price, no question that the Maverick wins.

Engineering deep dive: Slate EV truck chassis, body, battery, safety, suspension, underbody undercarriage

Ahhhh…ok my bad. I think just a slightly longer version of v1. No truck bed but an open (with roll bar) or enclosed rear section and those four doors. Oh and a lift. Keep the lift gate and add the spare tire rear bumper mount. Like a poor man’s version of the ROX Toyota built for SEMA.

Sure but is an EV (at a My brother’s ā€˜66 VW bus with the engine in back has pretty incredible off road and snow traction for a RWD vehicle. The Slate with the electric motor in back, RWD, and battery mounted low might have pretty impressive traction as well. Certainly better than my old 530i.

Phone or Tablet as your interface device?

Any number of things can be done given an accessible power source (or fuse block). The question is: will it be an easy DIY project? After hearing everything Slate has said so far, it has to be more than just DIY, it has to be easy…and teachable in their University. Oh yeah, it can’t void the...
