They call their chassis design the "slateboard". Presumably a future model would fit on the slateboard chassis.
I doubt they'll move the occupants much farther forward because of the need for a safety crush zone.
According to a family member who lives in Dallas, the problem they have there isn't snow, it's ice.
Compound that with inexperienced drivers and inappropriate tires and you have a recipe for disaster.
Here's some food for thought on the matter.
Let's say you have two sets of stock-size tires:
Michelin CrossClimate2 - Low Rolling Resistance, Weighs 30 pounds
Falcon WildPeak AT4W - High Rolling Resistance, Weighs 41.9 pounds
The WildPeak is a same-size tire that adds 47 pounds(!) of...
You asked a good question. Unfortunately there's no way the answer will turn out to be true.
Presumably the Slate Truck, being an EV, was range-tested while equipped with stock-sized "EV tires" that have been engineered for low rolling resistance.
Tire rolling resistance affects range...
Maybe it's possible according to his math, but as a practical matter you'd be better off putting a larger bike on a trailer and towing it.
I explained why in this post.
I believe the following statements to be true:
Generative AI is revolutionizing app development by automating tasks like code generation, UI design, and testing.
Smaller mobile app development teams are becoming increasingly viable due to the emergence and integration of AI development tools...
Portable CarPlay / Android Auto screens are available and inexpensive.
Presumably you can put one of them in something similar to the optional Tablet Holder and be golden.
Your assessment is way off. Ad-hominem nonsense like that isn't helpful.
My posts were only intended to point out that whiz-bang connectivity features necessarily give rise to security and privacy concerns.
Most people are unaware they're trading away some security, and even some personal...
TL;DR: Your WiFi and Bluetooth are being used to track you, probably WAY more than you realize. This may not bother you, but IMHO it should, just as a matter of general principle, because it's involuntary, surreptitious, and not necessarily for your benefit.
I wasn't going to bring up that...
Absolutely no desire here to make my car an IoT (Internet of Things) device! Neither WiFi nor a cellular connection are acceptable.
Bluetooth for diagnostics and firmware updates is (barely) acceptable, as long as it can be turned off when you're not doing diagnostics and updating firmware. If...
I added more comparison screenshots to three posts.
235/75R17 (30.9" x 9.3") and 245/75R17 (31.5"x9.6")
235/80R17 (31.8" x 9.3")
255/75R17 (32.1" x 10.0")
Now you can visualize how the alternative sizes compare to the 31-inch size that's shown when you select the All-Terrain Tire option using...
California Chain Control! 😧 Who knew there was such a thing.
After giving it some thought when the Performance In Snow Thread was active I concluded, at least for myself, that the RWD Slate, when equipped with appropriate tires and a lift especially, will handle snow like a boss... assuming...
On the bright side, sometimes snow tires are sufficient.
Chains are mandatory on all vehicles except passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks under 6,000 pounds gross weight with snow tires on two drive wheels.
This is only for the lowest-level chain requirement, R-1. (There are three levels.)
+1
AWD belies a minimalist ethos.
There are 16 new million light-duty vehicles sold in the US annually. Slate's 150K would be about 1% of that.
There are a plenty of people who will be happy to to buy RWD Slates in general, and minimalist-friendly near-blank Slates in particular.
IMHO Slate...
