It does have oil but it's not a high temperature environment so that oil can last a long time think of a rear differential, but it has a filter and cooling. Probably a good idea to change it every now and then but they are considered "lifetime" fluids.
I've never heard of the bearings failing...
I'll start off by saying this post is just for fun 😁
In several videos a future Slate model is mentioned, a "Slate portfolio of vehicles".
I would speculate that the next Slate might be a stretched 4 door with optional 4wd and 3rd row.
This would be several years from now, but the way the head...
If done properly, you shouldn't be able to hear it from inside the truck. But we'll see. It would be fun if you could have a different sound, like a custom ringtone.
-Should only be two fluids to maintain(edit: regularly maintain), brake fluid and battery coolant. A quick search says most manufacturers say around 100,000 or 10 years for the coolant and brake fluid is 30,000/3 years. These are basically the same as a ICE car, and easy to do yourself. I'd...
I'm in my 30's and find it nostalgic because two of the 3 cars I've owned we're from the 80's, haha a 88 fiero and a 89 single cab chevy 1500. Funny enough if you put those two together and add an electric motor you have the Slate.
I was thinking the same thing! The fiero had similar steel frame plastic panels and a lot of body kits were made for it including a Ferrari kit that was sold through Pontiac dealerships (until Ferrari sued them).
The Slate with it's exposed fasteners would be even easier to have a body kits...
DC to DC converters produce an AC ripple that can be dampened by a battery.
Also, the DC converter would have to be on all the time which means it would increase the standby loss. Meaning your battery would drain faster just sitting there.
Having a buffer battery let's you store power so you...
If the battery is a standard flooded lead acid I'll probably swap it out for a AGM unit. Seems to help solve most problems. Hopefully it will just ship with one.
Honestly, I'd rather an adjustable EPS over HSP. I've always found hydraulic spongy and a hydraulic system is just one more thing to do maintenance on.
Actually, I'd prefer manual steering, but I'm a crazy person. Lol
If you're slate will be plugged in when you're batteries are full and have excess solar, then you can just have a 240v relay that turns on the Slate charger when the battery is over a certain percentage. Some inverters have a NO-NC output for such a use, if not then you can find some that sense...
