    GUESS THEM PRICES$$$

As some have already pointed out some mods are exclusionary to others. My plan is to get the base truck- I am leaning toward the large battery for to cover future degradation, winter driving and a better resale if needed. I expect the small battery version to be ~$23000, large ~$26000. Based on...

How and when did you hear about Slate?

I follow a number of EV and auto related You Tube channels. At the time I was interested in the development of the Telo. The reveal was suddenly announced so I watched it. The Slate hit all the right notes for me. To me it is a side X side that is Highway legal. Perfect for trips to my weekend...

Dear Slate - you need to show these things before I'll buy

$$$ It's all about the $$$. Price out the door with std and extended battery. Price of accessories. None of which will be known until production starts. (I believe that is what is known as a fact of life.) Exact specs of the dash mounts so that 3D printed mounts for radios, speakers, etc. can be...

If the Slate PU came only as an ICE, I would buy one.

Over 7 years of EV (Tesla) ownership and I am done with ICE (ICEV is the worst of both worlds). The fact that Slate is a stripped down small pickup perfect for yard work and home DIY projects makes it, for me, the perfect second vehicle.

OK, so this is dumb, but hear me out....

To take this "One Step Beyond" - I would not be surprised if Slate catches on, that some aftermarket starts to do custom Slate panels. Give it more of a streamlined 1940s-'50s look. Might even help with the milage. Maybe throw in some fuzzy dice? In reality what will be needed is a Slate service...

Taller 17" All-Terrain Tires for OEM Wheels

Amen! I have them on my Tesla 3 (RWD LR) and we liked the performance so much got a set for my wife's Honda Accord. IMHO they outperform the cheaper snow tires here in Michigan.

    Slate Tailgate Technology 👋

Hmm? I thought the backup camera would be in the bumper. In the handle makes it useless when the tailgate is down, and that also means to remove the tailgate will involve electrical connections-AKA failure points. Am I wrong? I do know this is the beta, I am waiting to see the detail on the...

    Dump bed.

There appears enough room for a drop in dump bed. Like found on some side X sides and the cheap Chinese golf cart style pickups. The space already exists under the bed for the mechanism. Future idea.

The Slate is a Coupe Utility Vehicle (CUV)

The plan is; I get the basic Slate to use as a pick up, wife will get the fast back for running around. We may hold on to my Model 3 for trips.

    Simple low-tech audio ideas

Being the proud owner of several Moto G phones...been there, done that. One has a massive collection of tunes on the microSD (Several Xcrountry trips and have not listened to it all). Those phone have the FM radio chip, the app allows you to plug in headphones (needed to use as an antenna) and...

    Simple low-tech audio ideas

Boomer solution; Back in the day when I borrowed my dad's car I used a transistor radio...AM only. Dad didn.t "waste money" on "needless junk" like a radio in a car. My solution not only worked for me but also my buddy, who had a "Bug eyed" AH Sprite that also lacked a radio.

    Simple low-tech audio ideas

The Bluetooth problem; I have a couple of sons who somehow managed to survive the teen years and grew into fine upstanding adults. (Despite my best efforts.) However one retained a taste for grunge/punk/metal and every time he comes to visit, before we even leave the airport he has hijacked the...

    Simple low-tech audio ideas

Right now I found my old AM radio from a 69 AMC Rebel, still works and will be my test device. (Yes, it will work in an EV, they had plenty of noise filtering.) My eventual choice will be from a company called Retro Radio...AM/FM, Bluetooth, USB MP3 and plug for wire speakers. These have push...

News: Slate exploring different battery supplier. SUV kit price to be $5000 range

My question would be how much redesign of the BMS would be required? Sodium Ion is looking like a viable and cost effective choice, but it is new and not very proven tech. I am sure you are looking at all the options. I just hope you can keep manufacture in the US...Michigan prefered.

    📊 Expected Out-The-Door price for a $25,000 Blank Slate

They probably did, but did,t say. I've learned not to assume too much. In fact since they started literally in Sandy Monroe's back room, I would expect no less. Living in the motor city I know just how cut throat the auto industry is and, in a way, am glad to see then keeping some things out of...

    This Is So Boring Now

How I endure. 1.) Take the $$$ for my Slate and put it in a CD, use the few bucks I make for a wrap, etc. 2.) Get my old car ready for sale, use the $$$ for extra goodies. 3.) Play with the maker...again. Sigh, yes, I went through the same thing with my Model 3 waiting for production to ramp up...

Were you first drawn to the Slate itself or the headline price?

HELP! I can't stop playing with the Maker. I'm actually more excited with this then I was with my Tesla.

    📊 Expected Out-The-Door price for a $25,000 Blank Slate

IMHO Slate should have started with a cost analysis and worked up from there. This should be what it costs Slate to push a blank out the door. And that should be less $$$ that the base purchase price without incentives. If they did that, they have wiggle room and (again IMHO) a bright future...

Article: "Slate Auto’s Sophomore Album Problem: What Comes Next?" -- what do you think?

It is way to early to be thinking about this, but...another possible future development would be more truck. A cab with a frame that allows for different beds like flat bed, drop side, even small dump, possibly working with a truck bed company. Many including me have compared Slate to a Ranger...

CNBC Video: Slate has struck a nerve with the industry and consumers, says Former Ford CEO Mark Fields

"Off the shelf" doesn't always mean in current production. In the auto world it is refining the manufacturing process, tooling, testing for safety compliance, and basic engineering. All of which is the expensive part of part development. If that is already done, than you just need to pound out...
