Canceling my reservation [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

I think the Model Y will fit the bill. Yeah, not as many customization options, but also, it comes with 5 seats, you can wrap it if you want, and there’s plenty of aftermarket wheel options, so am I missing anything?

Canceling my reservation [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

With the tax credit going away on 9/30, I’m canceling my Slate. It was one thing when it was under $20K, but now it will be $27.5K when it actually comes out (probably more like $30K, but we’ll see). I can get a Model Y today for $37.5K and it has well over double the range, can tow over 3X...

Is Slate's absence of telemetry an important distinctive feature?

So things becoming illegal that were once legal? Talk about paranoid… Plus there’s the fact that if you did something on a certain date that becomes illegal later, it was still legal when you did it. And even if you miss a memo, you’ll get pulled over and get a verbal warning that whatever you...

Is Slate's absence of telemetry an important distinctive feature?

Okay… I’ve driven Teslas for multiple years. I’ve always given them permission to the in-car camera (yes, there’s an option to exclude that). Most anyone’s seen is me sitting in seat looking out a windshield. Not grasping the concern here. Are you picking up hookers and getting some road-head...

Is Slate's absence of telemetry an important distinctive feature?

You’re almost always on someone’s camera when you’re outside your home. There’s no legal expectation of privacy in public. Might as well use it to your advantage and get some perks out of it.

Is Slate's absence of telemetry an important distinctive feature?

There’s 2 ways of looking at this. Tech gives you the ability to see your vehicle’s location anytime/anywhere. If it gets stolen, you can tell police the exact parking space it’s in. You can also pre-cool/pre-heat the cabin, roll the windows up or down, see your charge level, tire PSI, and...

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

I’d like to see at least 2 speakers added in. Even if they’re just Bluetooth and there’s no radio. But some semblance of a sound system is expected in cars, just as much as an HVAC system is.

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

Hate to be the voice of reason, but new cars aren’t <$30K anymore. Slate might be, but will have hand crank windows and no stereo. Slate isn’t some crazy godsend vehicle that defies the economy. It’ll be $30K for a blank Slate. Want more? Buy something else for $40K+ or pay to upgrade your Slate.

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

Hope people are counting on $30K, not sub-$20K. It’s the unfortunate reality of cars these days.

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

I could write an essay on the subject, but all the info is already out there. Steer-by-wire and 4 wheel steering are the big ones for me. As for all the other things it offers, people just need to go test drive it instead of allowing social media to tell them how to feel about it.

Slate could become “the Glock of trucks”

If it does, that would be impressive. New car companies have problems that come out after release, just because of the sheer numbers they have over their testing numbers. That’s all auto makers, not just Slate. The Slate will have problems and recalls just like everyone else. Just part of life.

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

If you’ve driven one, you know why. If you haven’t, you can’t possibly imagine the experience.

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

It definitely doesn’t look like anything else. It’s bar none the greatest vehicle ever conceived by a landslide, but it’s received poorly by the vocal minority.

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

Don’t get me started. Elon envisioned Cybertruck replacing conventional work trucks at the unveil in 2019, then all the YouTube videos since then seemed to be aimed at the gothic, cyberpunk types. No idea WTF was up with that.

DIY vs OFT (Open For Theft)

Legitimate concern. Maybe Slate should do proprietary bolts and include like 10 bits with every truck they sell.

Slate’s BYO Infotainment and the possible issue of Temperatures.

Well we have time to keep looking. Plan B would be get a pop-up car port to keep it in the shade, hand-crack the windows until the sun goes down, or just take the thing out everyday. That defeats the purpose though so I’m either going to find a tablet that can handle the task or just stick to...
