What is your transmission or drive control experience?

With all the talk of 1PD (One Pedal Driving) and regen feeling, there have been discussions about how it has some slight elements that can be compared to driving a manual transmission. I'm curious what our collective experience is. I decided to ramp up the poll a bit and added "Advanced" which would include Big Rig 18 speeds, Jake Braking, Saab Freewheeling, Model-T controls, Formula 1, etc. If you are advanced, you should proudly tell us your skill.

I'm especially interested if anyone has done Saab Freewheeling, because it suspiciously sounds like just the opposite of Slate's regen setting, yet I hear other EVs can have very low regen.

I chose both Automatic and Manual. I have never driven an EV. My cousin had a Saab with freewheel and it was nuts. My niece's husband drives a big rig and he asked if I wanted to take a spin, but I turned it down. I should have taken him up on it. (In a parking lot.)

What is the definition of "light truck"? I've driven larger box or flatbed trucks with manuals. They're over 8,500 lbs but not a big rig.

I've been told that regen feels a lot like engine breaking in my manual, but at what gear I wonder?
When I'm in 6th gear, engine breaking doesn't feel much different than coasting, when I'm in first gear, it can be difficult to maintain speed because even a slight change in my pedal position can be felt...

I drove my daughter's Model 3 once, but I don't recall even noticing a difference.

Well $hit, I'll never lose cognition then. Some 1.7M miles driven between cars and motorcycles, only about 130,000 miles has been on an automatic transmission.

Dang, I forgot to add motorcycles.

We don't plan on getting rid of the manual Vibe. It does exercise the brain. I haven't driven it much but had the need to the last few days. I have to brush up on my uphill starts.

According to the poll, we have someone who has never driven an automatic. Not uncommon in Europe.

The only automatics I've driven are the drivers ed cars, my dad's cars on a few occasions, a few rental cars on business trips, and 108,000 on my H3T. I looked for the 5-cylinder/manual trans version of H3T but none were available late in the last days of Hummer.

Took my driver's test in a manual transmission. I hate automatics.

I've had 4 Miatas. I'd agree they are fun. I've had 10 motorcycles and for me they are far more fun (with much deeper man/machine integration).

I would also include 2 other categories. Motorcycles and 4x4 with low range.

I’ve never driven an EV, but have had multiple motorcycles and imagine that to be the closest to the feeling of driving 1PD.
