Another, very small and kinda prosaic request - with the knowledge that the seat making is now in-house.

Since Slate now has an upholstery shop in house, for those of us that add the carpet option to our Slate, how about a set of floor mats be available? Full set for SUV, front set for blank Slate, and rear add-on that might come along with the SUV kit purchased later?

In Slate grey (body panel color) with a white SLATE logo.

It could even be added to the merch section.

I ask this because I plan on getting my Slate with carpet, and I'd like something to protect that carpet from tracked-in dirt, tree needles, etc. Just like my cars have floor mats, I'd like my shiny, new Slate to have floor mats.

If this is a hit, as I think it will be, the third party will likely develop floor mats that are superior. Think WeatherTech where it is laser measured for perfect fit.

My hope is that I can get vinyl floors like my Ranger and F-150 had and just open both doors and use my leaf blower to blow all the debris out.

That is a perfectly valid alternative. I am adding carpet to my Slate because it will be a commuter, and sound-deadening is a thing. Carpet mats are good for not getting the main carpet dirty or stained.

Now, if this guy was going to be a work truck for me, no way in hell would I want carpet in there. Full vinyl floors, just like my farm trucks, and rubber mats to grab most of the crap. Perfect.

No one-size-fits-all for us, my Slate brother!

The maker currently has add ons for rubber or carpet floor mat inserts and rubber or carpet floor liners. It allows you to have nothing, or a insert or liner, or both. So I expect one of those options is basically a full rubber or carpet floor, and the other is a set of floor mats that can go on top of it.
I also expect that they will be replaced in the maker by something like an actual weathertech branded set, possibly sets from multiple manufacturers to choose from.

Thank you - I didn't see that on the website. I even looked beforehand, and everything!

Sorry about that, folks.

Do you have Coco mats in your Porsche? I've been told those are some of the nicest ones out there and I'd love a set for the Slate. I am hoping when the first Slates start rolling out to consumers, the few who have them can lend theirs to be 'measured' by aftermarket companies. Weathertech used to have a bounty page for vehicles in the Chicagoland area to get their floors measured in return for a free set of mats when they were made.

Edit: Last year a bunch of Geo / Suzuki owners all pitched in for custom made-to-fit floormats for our trucks. It just takes one owner to get in touch with the right company!

I am hoping Slate has already been in contact with Weathertech and others and provided them with specs, possibly they have gotten back with pricing and images for adding to the maker and release in June.
