That is good for the consumer.
Assuming no manufacturer ever invests heavily in the beginning to be sure initial units perform well, and then backs the quality off once they have a high rating to save money.
Similar to VW with diesel gate.
Great point, I guess this justifies me getting a version 1 truck! Oh who am I kidding, this is such a simple machine I'm hoping there is a smaller # of parts and less extraneous crap to break. -fingers crossed-

lol - I have an Asus tablet that's 14 years or more old (Android 2.2!) and it was the subject of controversy when the testing models they shipped out had MUCH faster (and therefore costly) RAM installed, and when in production the shipping models had garbage memory. Functional to a point, then dog-slow. The internet figured it out in about 3 days....
