Anyone expecting that by the time this is for sale they’ll have customization bundles that come with the truck and get tacked onto the sale price?

  • Most people will struggle to spend $25k on a truck and immediately spend another $2k on options. Putting it all into the purchase price and letting it be financed fixes that.
  • Offer discounted bundle pricing on options ordered with the truck. This will avoid everyone buying the Blank Slate and rushing to Temu to order options that make the truck look terrible.
  • This would get people customizing it immediately instead of never getting around to it.

Picking up accessories at time of purchase so that they can be included in the financing seems like a straightforward idea. I personally hope there's no significant discount for doing so over buying the same parts later though. That always leads people to overspend up front, stretch the budget, and grab things for FOMO reasons. I'd rather get the parts when I need them, and not feel like I'm getting a raw deal when they're 10-20% higher if purchased later.

If Slate is doing the financing internally, I don't see a reason why they couldn't offer financing options on accessories by themselves. Like a "pay in four" system where they just bill the credit card in four equal payments spread over a few months. If fraud is a concern, there's the old layaway model too.
