Just food for thought I’ve had. Does the SUV kit even make sense in the business model anymore? I know there are users who will get the topper and use it without seats- that makes sense.

But for the everyday consumer, average Joe buying the Slate. The SUV kit is getting more and more confusing.
Reason I say this- there is a lot of competition in the market. The recent CNBC video says a well kitted Slate will be “high 30s”.

Now you’re directly competing with the Equinox’s, Kona’s, etc. and even a well-kitted Slate will be less equipped than a base model of these.

The cheap truck- that makes sense. But consumers in the SUV market- will they pay more/the same for less?

Curious to thoughts.

This is actually the one that makes the least sense to me. That's just a canopy topper, right? No need to get the special official Slate unless it's cheaper than a Leer or similar

The roll cage may be a perk to some, or the fact that it’s all the same materials/manufacturing. Plus that would allow for an open-air design, rather than seperate bed/cab. A pro to some, a con to others

There's appeal to having a factory-engineered top with no seats or rollbar.

For me it would be for hauling dogs and bicycles.

A bike won't fit in the back if the seat's in there.

I think the rollbar may be a necessary part. From the hints given, it's all flat packed, and the rollbar goes on first, and the roof and side panels mount to it.

Aphrodite's second-most asked question (after AWD) was about getting an SUV kit without the seats and rollbar. She said yes, and then said "the Cargo Kit is essentially the SUV Kit without seats".

Without seats, no mention of without rollbar.

depends on how much it is. if it is 3K and the truck is then 28K it is still cheaper than other comparable electric suvs which are actually crossovers.

But I agree, there is much more competition in the SUV space. Bear in mind though you can remove it and have a truck when you need it. The competitive crossovers cant.
